How do you clean screen doors

9 times out of 10 I spray the screen magic on and then wipe the screen down with a dirty detail cloth.

On screen doors I apply the screen magic directly to the cloth and then wipe the screen down, I do this
to prevent the SM from getting on the glass.

I never have had a problem washing the towels that have SM on them with my other window cleaning
towels.

Does anyone remember a thread from about a month ago. This guy had a irremovable coating on his windows, it turns out his window cleaning method is to rub the entire window down with a towel just in case there is a water spot:rolleyes: He ended up transferring something to the glass on all windows inside and out and nothing he tried would get it off. There was a glaze like effect… do you think this SM stuff could do that?

Their is no reason why Screen Magic would have a residue that would retain in any other items your washing with. But I have never tested it myself as I have a lot of them and it doesn’t’ take long to pile up. I don’t wash them separably from other items on purpose, it’s just the way it is around here. I can say with certainly that Screen Magic breaks down very easily with hot water so if your concerned I would recommend that you wash in hot water and you should have no problem.

I’ll will test it out on the next load I do and mix some other items in and see what happens. I will do half in hot and half in cold and see if their is any difference. My only indicator will be by feel and wetting them down and wringing our the water in a glass to see if their is any residue. If anyone has any other thoughts about how to check for residue for my test let me know.

Don’t go through the trouble on my account, you’re right that there’s just no way. That guy mentioned that he’s done the house for years but this year his wife washed their towels at a laundry mat because his washer was broken. He was stumped and wondering what he could have got in his towels there. I was just throwing out ideas…

I just washed my drop cloth and the few towels two days ago, hot water, wash to rinse cycle, then back to wash again to let it wash a bit longer and I could not feel any residue on them. Will test one on a window and if there is a residue that comes off the towel I will post it.

I haven’t had any problems with residue on towels either. They come out perfectly.

I did the washing the towels in the washing machine test this weekend. Just to make it interesting I poured about 4-6 oz of Screen Magic in the washing machine. I washed them with hot water I as normally do. I could not find even a hint of residue either on the towels or the barrel of the washing machine. So I think it’s safe to say that other than hot water their is no special attention needed when washing the towels that you use with Screen Magic.

I use the cheepo Costco yellow microfibers to wipe window frames and excess Screen Magic from screens and their frames. Dirty or not, I wash (and air dry) and continue to use without ill effect. My white sill towels are segregated and kept white with hot water and bleach.

I’ve never used screen magic, I wet brush the screen with my window cleaning brush and dry with a towel. Does a pretty good job, what would screen magic do? Is this an extra step for nothing or do you charge more money? The less things I have to carry room to room is better for me, I always clean the screens right at the window on a drop sheet.

+1

I have used screen magic but I’m on the fence about its usefulness in day to day jobs. If you spray it on, you need to work in an area where there is very little to no wind or you waste alot. I have better results spraying it on a microfiber cloth then wiping the screen. There will always be a few screens that don’t look any better than not using it that It’s hard for me to say that I’d feel justified charging extra. A lot of it is dependent on the condtion of the screen to begin with.
