How do you clean screen doors

I use screen magic and use a terry towel for an applicator. Do you remove them and clean with a hose? if you do use screen magic what do you use for an applicator. the terry towels are just not working out. Any Ideas?

I simply spray on SM just like any other screen.

i have tried it that way, it does not work. i know it says all you have to do is spray it on but it dont work. i spray it on a towel and scrub the screen and it works great.

Sounds like you answered your own question
If there’s any visible dust on the screen I usually have to wipe as well, but it’s still much quicker and infinitely better looking than not using SM

yes thats not the problem. its the terry towel, im gonna try a sponge. whatever i guess it was a dumb question

I’d stop using the towel as an applicator and just spray the SM on. Then if needed use a huck to wipe the screen down.

If needed, I remove the screen door with the help of a 1 1/2 inch wide flexible putty knife – compressing the springed lower roller and allowing safe movement from its track.

I think SM works great on many screen doors. I have also used a WFP to scrub (against non-sliding pane) and rinse (move to sliding pane position) at times.

I use the screen magic on those doors with those blue microfibers they sell at CM Supply. They can’t detail a window worth a duke, I bought 2 bags of them like 2 years ago. If you go there, you will see them on the main display near the scrapers on the Ettore display. Its a wierd material. It works great with screen magic.

The problem I have with the screen doors is not wanting to get the screen magic on the glass, especially if I am gonna use a waterfed pole. I don’t want it to get on my brush.

My fault, didn’t read the whole post before replying. I burn through the terry towels when I use them on to clean the screens but the clean ones do seem to work, for me anyway.

Ive had trouble with the SM getting on the glass too. thats why i spray it directly on the towel. do you throw away the towels after, they get so dirty you cant even wash em

I like to use my Ettore Super Brush. I wet the brush and scrub the screen door for a few seconds. Then beat the dirt off with my huck towel.

The Ettore Super Brush is the best tool I have found for cleaning all screens

. If A hose is available i spray it and was it with my window brush soap it up really well and rinse. if no hose is available same process and wipe it down with my towel works great. you just need to srub it up well. Removing screen doors is a trap. After you reinstall them you can get the “it never rolled like that before” now you have to spend time trying to get it to work even though the door was a crappy roll to begin with.

I just used SM for the first time last week, with regular screens as well as 2 Phantom screens (the 2 Phantoms were newer and pretty clean) sprayed SM on a micro fiber and wiped it down and it came out nice.

Questions about the Screen Magic for the experienced user. How well does screen magic residue come out of towels and drop cloths? I have a few towels and a drop cloth in the garage ready to be washed but worry about residue staying in the washer after the load and contaminating the next load. Any special cleaning instructions for cleaning?

I haven’t noticed any residue but if your worried you could run the washer empty one time just to be sure.

I make sure to only use the SM on those certain towels. They don’t leave any lint at all. I know SM is can be cleaned with water or else you wouldn’t be able to mix it with water in concentrate.

When it rains though, it really thrash’s the window the screen is covering.

Uh oh.
Now I’m suddenly not so happy about the gallon I just bought…

It may be that I just used way too much product Thad. I’ve been using it since it was introduced here at WCR. This is the first rainy season though, so when I get back to my other regulars I am gonna check it out and see if its the same on all the homes I used it on. It could also be that it rained only 3 days after I did those screens and the product didn’t get a chance to set?? Its the only call back I have had so far, which may not mean much…could be the homeowners just think its because its a dirty screen.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I try and quickly wipe the excess off because it seems to make them look cleaner… I haven’t noticed any problems/residue on my monthly accounts, certainly nothing excessive, but I’ll keep an eye out.

As for residue on the towels, I throw away the ones that are black but if they look like they’ll come clean and look fairly white again I’ll wash them. I’ve never noticed any residue on them either, I don’t see how that tiny amount of SM could make it through the wash and cause any problems.

I did a job months ago w/ SM for a very picky customer. There have been tons of high winds and thunderstorms here since ans she hasn’t called back.
PS she was a referral and the customer that referred her said she was satisfied w/ the job a couple of months after we had done it.

I only use Screen Magic as an up-charge. I clean all my screens the same way, and I don’t like making a big production out of them. Dragging out a hose and making a big wet mess is too much time and trouble for me. I simply remove all screens except for the screen door, that I clean in place. I use a long handle-soft bristle brush and start by quickly brushing the outside of the screen then turning over to do the inside. Then I have a separate bucket made up of half strength GG4 solution, take a terry towel and dip it into the bucket, wring it out so it doesn’t drip but still holds plenty of water. Then gently wipe down the outside of the screen and finish up wiping the inside and quickly wiping the frames. No need to wait for them to dry and can be installed right away. For the large screen door I use the same method only I make sure the glass door is closed, brush only the outside, then wipe the outside down, step inside the house and slowly and gently wipe the inside of the screen. This process takes about 30-45 seconds per screen and looks great. No streaks, no dirt and no dust flying into the house. I had many people comment on how good their screens look and asked if I have a secret formula.
