How do you remove egg from a screen?

Anyone know how to remove egg from a screen? It looks like someone’s house got egged and then it sat there for a loooooooong time. What would be a good way to clean that screen?

Thanks in advance for the help!

If I can’t get something off with my boars hair and F90, then I’d sell a rescreening. At some point all the rubbing/scrubbing will mark the fibers of a screen.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not familiar with F90, what is that?

Powdered Formula 90 what I use for the nastiest. Otherwise all others get Tide w/ bleach alt.

Cool. Thanks!

It would probably be a good idea to give the soap some time to work and loosen the egg while you clean some other screens. Dwell time.

Also hot or even warm water cleans better than cold water.

I would just hit it with straight bleach.

If it has been a long time I suspect you remove the screen material and file it in the trash can.
If I am wrong, let us know how you did it. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’m not sure if I’m going to do it or not, but I’d still like to know if any one has removed egg successfully or not. I’m not even sure what material the screen is. It’s on a storm window probably from the 50’s. It seemed more metallic than other screens I’ve dealt with.

If the screen is from the 50’s it is most likely oxidized and discolored anyway. I’d re-screen it with black fiberglass. It will look brand new and be hardly noticeable in the window. Getting egg off of any surface if it has been there a looooong time is usually very difficult to near impossible.

Thanks Seth, I think I’m just going to let the customer know that the best solution is to replace the screen. I scrubbed on it for a while and it just wasn’t coming off. Thanks!
