anyone use this stuff in a spray bottle? ive never used it, just googled the product name after seeing it on the forum and not knowing what it is-- ended up reading the full thread…
anyway, yeah, it sounds like this stuff is really strong, and requires pretty even distribution of the chemical on the windows surface. If dripping can cause discoloring of paint and such, wouldnt a fine mist applied to the window be a safe and effective alternative to splashing it on?
It contains ACID. Do not use on marble, granite, limestone, do not spill on them either. Be very careful using around aluminum, copper or brass. It can affect carbon steel (not stainless so much)
If you are wearing nitrile gloves while working with One Restore, change them frequently. the acid in One Restore can negatively affect the nitrile.
The concentration of acid in One Restore is not very high, but please be sure to be very vigilant when using it.
It can damage plants if spilled on them and not rinsed off
I use a squeeze bottle and white pad to control right against the top of the glass. A spray bottle makes it pretty airborne – requiring additional PPE.
I just used this stuff for the first time today and it was on three separate showers with glass doors and block… I must be doing something wrong because it barely put a dent in the stain. Maybe the stains just that bad. Anyone ever been unsuccessful using onerestore in showers?
I haven’t used it on a shower but I have used it on windows and it is not quite as strong as CC550. It won’t remove some stains. Get Dan fields DVD on water spot removal. It will be the last source of information you will need on the issue. If you have questions after that call Dan. He’s a great guy and very helpful.
Yessir, if its really built up, One Restore usually won’t get it all off. It’s almost always my first step, then abraiding next and that usually finishes it.
Here is a video I made using One Restore on a glass shower door. This is the same way we treat windows. The main thing I tell everyone is DO NOT LET IT DRY! Keep applying it or spray a mist of water as you let it sit.
Hope this helps!
Here is a window we treated with One Restore using the same method in our video:
Glade to see that you had squirt the One Restore onto the glass.(some people tend to spray it on not good)
Also when using in the confined areas like this would be best to wear some sort of mask.
(Open windows as you did) and put exhaust fans on, draw out the fumes out.
This can make you quite sick if you breath in.
After using would also at least wash hands and rinse face it tends to get into the skin to a point.
Just Saying .
Here is a video we did on the windows using One Restore.WINDOW CLEANING ✅CALCIUM REMOVAL OFF GLASS USING ONE RESTORE - YouTube
What are you guys charging for hard water removal (in relation to your normal pane cost)? I am getting ready to bid a large job (over 1000 panes), giving the option of mechanical ie. GlassRenu and chemical. I have the figure for mechanical pretty squared away, but chemical will be a lot cheaper alternative for them and I was planning on offering with One Restore.
I charge 2.5 times normal clean price for HW stain removal with one restore AND sealing the glass after words. But I never have that many panes to remove HW stains either. I would be at least 1.5 times on a job that big. Likely 2 times the normal clean price. I’d have to see the job to really make a determination.
On a side note, why offer mechanical, if chemically it can be removed? Are some panes that bad that it may not come clean? I don’t think I would offer a cheaper route if it’s not going to get the job done properly, unless they signed off. Still, I don’t think I’d offer something that isn’t going to get the glass 100% right, just because.
