When I did these windows, (this was only my 2nd time cleaning) It took me a whole hour just to do the outside. and another hour to do inside. I know once I get the hang of it my time will drop, but I want to know by how much assuming my speed will be average.
Okay there are 11 windows total here. There are only about 2 or 3 posters on the inside that I’m actually supposed to take off the windows and put back on.
Also, most of the stuff on the inside in the way is NOT there, so please disregard everything big in the way. It’s Not there usually, the owner got a new machine today and had to get rid of the old one (which created a temporary mess).
He told me that the previous window cleaner could get the whole thing done in 30 minutes. including taking the posters off and putting them back on the windows. The Window Cleaner was charging $15 per clean In and Out.
So… 11 windows both sides = 22 panes (not sure what they are called). 22 panes… 30 minutes? $15? Is that good or bad?
$30/hr Gross… For ME, being a noobie, it took 2 hrs… which is… $7/hr gross… lol.
So how long would it take you to do a job like this? how much would you expect to make off this one specific job? what would you charge? The competitor also used a ladder, and was “slow” and “meticulate”
Yes, your speed will pick up. But do not sacrifice quality for quantity. I would do this job in about 15-20 minutes. Inside and out. Depending what I need to move in the inside. I would charge at least $40.00 for this job and schedule it for a monthly service. No ladder needed. Just scrubber, squeegee and pole. Also, not a good idea to fall for the old: “The other guy charged me this much” line. I usually respond to that line with:“Well, I understand but this is what I have to charge to stay profitable”. Or something to that effect. If I feel they have wasted my time I usually just say: “If you would like I can call that guy for you”. Everyone here will tell you to figure how much you want to make and charge accordingly. Not too much money in store fronts but you can get a route going and come out O.K. Go after residential for a higher profit margin. Wish you well.

Thats what I thought… I wasn’t sure. Thats what Fish charges, and the owner said it only takes fish 30 minutes. so… It sounds like I do need to make an adjustment. lol
I would be at either $25 or $30, depending on how badly I wanted to land it and where it was in relation to other jobs I have. I would expect it would take me about 15 to 20 minutes if it was done regularly. Why did the owner/manager switch from “the other $15 guy?” How did you get the job?
I’d do it for $40.00. Might take an hour from the time I get out of my truck until I get back in it. That is, if I don’t stand around and visit for a while, which I am prone to do.
Learn to scrub and squeegee with both hands equally while standing in the middle of two panes and watch your time drop. Something I recently got the hang of. The less body movement equals quicker results.
I would charge $30, maybe $40 if I wasn’t thrilled with:
a- location
b- owner
c- frequency
d- the weather
e- anything else on my mind at the time… lol
It would probably take me 20 to 25 minutes to do in and out, and I would describe myself as slow, as far as storefront window cleaning goes. And that’s if I don’t have to wrestle with the posters to get them down. I’ve even cleaned glass behind posters while they were still hanging, if they are only hanging from chains.
It’s not necessary to use a step ladder to be “meticulous”. You can get all of your scrubbing, squeegeeing, and detailing perfect with a pole at that height (and higher). It just takes a little practice.
John, I would go with around $30. Prob. a little more. Maybe, but not likely a tad less.
And you will get quicker. Here’s my acronym for priorities QES Quality, then efficiency, then speed.
I am still new at doing store fronts myself. As a matter of fact I have only one regular customer which I do bi-weekly. Based on what I see on the forum folks have been charging $2 to $4 per pain and $5 for doors, which adds up to $28 for your store in the photos, then round up to a nice $30 for good measure. I am looking at a square footage method myself. I measure each pain and doors, currently I charge 10 cents per square foot, which oddly enough based on my one store that I do comes out to be around $2 to $3 per pain. The folks on this forum are very experineced and have helped me a lot. Good luck and keep coming back to this website for lots of free help and advice.
My thoughts exactly. From arrival to leaving time, I would expect 25-30 minutes at longest. I do quite a bit of storefront now and I just base my pricing on how long I believe it would take me, so I would probably be at $30. Per pane doesn’t seem to ever be consistent for me on storefronts. Just seems like I may leave money on the table or vice versa. I know for a fact with my helper wed be done in 10-15 minutes easy.
Pricing varies by location. But here $35.00 to $40.00 is average. I use a method like in the video to do store front windows. and it speeds things up a lot. But equipment plays into the mix as well. I use 20" to 36" squeegees. I only have one store that I use a 10" squeegee on. Using a Bucket on a belt will shave some time off as well. It should not take much longer than 25 to 30 minutes going slow.
You will find what works best for you and like others stated you will get faster with time. And first time cleanings sometimes do take longer.
Hey i know fealing i just did my first buisiness a bar with 16 windows and tape and posters and on and on 3hrs later i 30 bks in my pocket lol. Just like you next time we gonna do in 20 min.Keep up the determination i too believe it will work out.No more looking to go do someone elses work.Yes we are self supported

Depends on how much you want/need the job. I’d do it in 15-20 minutes inside and out. But here $40 for that job would leave you with zero chance of servicing this account and you would get laughed out the door. I’d charge like $20. I look at hourly rates I want to earn and $60/hr for commercial is pretty darn good over here assuming it’s a regular cleaning. No ladder needed, … would take way too much time and is completely unneccesary. Get good with a pole and see your time improve dramatically (see video section or youtube for techniques). I’d get whatever your area will give you but you’d also need to weigh the real possibility of not getting a lot of accounts at a higher pricing schedule.
Are you saying that you scrub with one hand while you squeegee with the other hand at the same time on a single window??? I saw it in a youtube video, thought it was the craziest thing ever.
