How many mops do you guys carry with you on a daily basis. I’m just starting out and only have one 18" mop and a 14" mop. Use the 18 outside and 14 inside. But I recently did two jobs in one day and felt bad about using my mops on the second job. I mean they weren’t like caked with dirt. But do you put a fresh mop on for every residential job you go to in a day.
NO
Just rinse outs your mops real good before the next job.
Cool thanks for the info.
Fresh mop for every job, no way.
I don’t let my mops get crazy dirty though either.
Clean appearance inside is a must.
I’ve got a nice looking white one I save for residential. Otherwise, just rinse it well between jobs like the others have mentioned. If your mops are coming away that dirty from maintenance cleans, maybe try and upsell frequency? Seems like a lot of dirt.
Keep your mop rinsed and your bucket water clean and you should have no problems. At the end of each day I dunk mine in diluted vinegar and wring them out to prevent mildew. I machine wash every other week and even that is probably overkill.
What a coincidence… I was actually gonna post this little trick the other day but i forgot. I hate that mildewy smell so much.
I change mine out for every residence. They’re cheap, why not. If it’s a house I go in with a fresh clean mop and water. It’s just as quick as rinsing and maybe quicker.
On commercial or storefront I change my mop when I change my water. Just about ever 3 hours depending on how dirty it gets.
Thank you guys for the replies. Wealth of info here. I had been machine washing them after every day I used them along with my used rags. And they are cheap enough I think I’ll get one more of each. With as little as I do right now that should be good.
Now when you say “change” it, are you throwing them out? O.o
I use Unger MonsoonPlus sleeves and at the very most I rinse mine out after a job and squeeze it dry. Sleeves look excellent for a few weeks, good for a few more weeks, then fair but definitely usable outside for a few months. No point in laundering mine if I am using soap on it all day. Just rinse until clear and wring that baby out to let it dry.
I should add that in spring time when the pollen is flying I go through sleeves a little bit quicker. The pollen makes it sticky and sometimes there is no cleaning that. I also hate how the water running down the poles from pollen is so sticky.
yes, we have a bucket with about 20 mops and after we take one off we just throw it in with the used towels and they get washed together. i like a clean fresh mop and its faster to just wash it with the towels than to go hunt down a faucet and spend 2 minutes rinsing it out.
Haha no I’m not throwing them out.
Obviously not. I’m doing just as @leavingnc is doing.
I never wash may mops. I spray them off every so often.
…Weeks…
Sorry - I’m new to the business, so I don’t understand the idea of using a mop for indoors. Can someone elaborate? Is there that much water?
When people refer to a mop it’s also called a scrubber or applicator, its what you apply water to wash the window before you squeegee.
@anon46335951 Thank you.
Nothing like rinsing the mop on its handle with the customers garden hose on jet stream setting.
