wheel finally broke on my wash-it, and i can’t get the end cap off the axle.
a washer and cotter pin would be much easier
Puuulll!!
pulling hammering twisting not working 2 days of pulling it around without wheel is no fun. over an hour wasted so far on attempt ot remove. the wash it is great but this piece sucks big time. and if i damage it i will have to find a new one
It’s probably got a star lock cap on it.
The end cap is forced pressed on, if you can’t pull it off or tap it off you my have to cut it off and find a replacement at a hardware store.
Yeah, its a locking cap. Get a flat-head screwdriver behind it and tap it off with a hammer. You will need to damage the end cap to get it off, like Steve said, you can get them at any hardware store.
Its a broken wheel, so thats garbage now, the end cap will need to be replaced and the axle is a piece of steel. You won’t be damaging anything that you won’t need to replace.
Let me know if I can help
They’re called cap nuts. After you get them off, hit harbor freight and get you some nice rubber wheels and you can even use a cotter pin to hold them (video 2)
Cut it off with a sawzall and replace both wheels with skis for the Canadian tundra
Available at Home Hardware in Canada, Ken.
thanks for all the help. i actually knew how to remove it but was incredibly stubborn and i was very frustrated with the time i lost. required attaching a vice grip to one end holding it in place with my foot then grabbing the other cap with another vice grip and twisting it with both hands while pulling.
@Chris @Alex i think you should stop using those caps and go to a hole with cotter pin.
the inconvenience of those caps does fit with the outstanding quality of the unit.
We have a couple minor changes in the works this is one of them. We just released a small change at the top there the hose connects to the RO. Tiny little refinements here and there have made it a really great machine.
What did you change on the hose connection? Something to keep the hose from collapsing at the bend? Can we get a part list?
