Another great tip would be to start practicing cleaning windows on your own house, parents and siblings.
Absolutely! Was thinking bout purchasing the SteveO or Luke starter kit to get started with squeegee techniques! Does anybody have any recommendations for starter kit?
My word! I might move to LA haha! Where I am it’s reasonable for $6-8 dollars inside and out. $22 for storms.
Yeah but a 1 bedroom apartment in the ghetto is about $1,500 A month
That is really interesting and helpful. Thank you. Do you count them differently if they’re higher up? FOr example, we do three and four story work, so the time to move the ladders is a lot more. I’d be curious to see if you had ever looked at that.
You can do the whole thing backwords to get an approximate price. Start with a cheep bit. Let’s say a small house, about 1500 sq.f.
Clean it with a normal speed and good quality. It should take you about 3 houres or so. That is glass, tracks, and screens (just wipe the frame and brush the screen).
Assuming that you should make at least $70 per hour (sales tax is not included) your price is 3×70=210. That is bear minimum! Now with your insurance and sales tax: 210×1.2×1.082(that is my area sales tax)=$272.79
Now you can divide this number by number of individual glass panes. (That is one side of it!)
Once more it is just a basic imperical approach. It should give you “a feel of it”, if you want. A rule of thumb. A hint, do not tell them how much do you charge per window etc. They will do “their math” and it may not be the same as yours. This is for one story home. If it is 2 story and higher you have to use percentile, e.g. 30% more etc. for outside only.
An example. Just 2 days ago I cleaned a small house about 1400 s.f. or so. I did it exactly in 2 houres for $160 (outside only). It constitutes $80 per houre. For my bottom middle class neighborhood it is great. (This is my repeating customer). Your math could be slightly different for your area.
As you can see you can figure it out from both sides. There could be hidden costs too…(e.g. bushes by the windows, screwed on screens, storm windows, etc.) You have to use additional coefficient.
I hope it is not too complicated for you. Good luck!
