Whats good everybody I hope all is well. So i am very interested in exploring and breaking in to the window cleaning business. Currently I own and operate a small lawn care maintenance company. However I am seriously considering moving on from this business. Reason being its not worth the amount of labor required for the compensation. Considering making a transition to the window biz. I am thinking I can get started offering window cleaning services to current customers to help get started. I live in the foothills of Los Angeles, CA! How do I learn window pricing? Residential and commercial? Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you!
Prepare to be roasted! I will not but most people are gonna answer all your questions by telling you to hit the search bar.
Damn!
People get upset when questions like this are asked because you can search this exact thing in the search bar and find answers. People want too know you have researched before asking stuff that’s covered. I’m not coming down on you just letting you know. Type in pricing and read on
Right on I appreciate the feedback. I figure everybody’s situation might be different but I will definitely do a search for some answers as well. Again your response is greatly appreciated, thank you!
- I agree, definitely use the search bar
- I’d buy some quality squeegees, black diamond rubbers, T-bar, BOAB, 100+ blue huck towels (wash first without softener to cut the lint) and a ‘tool belt’ to put said huck towels into.
- In your free time, wash your own windows a couple hundred times for practice. This is especially important if your going to be working your existing lawn care customers first.
- Feel out your market and adjust your prices to a point where your landing a lot of jobs, but still have some turning you away as ‘too expensive.’ If you’re landing 90%-100% of your bids, you’re prices are too low and you’re getting worked by your markets clientele.
Just my 2 cents
I would say for LA you could be at $12-$14 per window inside and out.
Talk to frank , He helped Me out when I first started . He’s a really Nice guy

Awesome and thank you for the reply! About what size window pane would you say this applies to? And how about just outside? Again thanks for the great info!
Is he a member of this forum/community? Or should I reach out by email or phone? Also thanks for the info it is greatly appreciated! Are you still working in this business?
Thank you for the respones. I am definitely going to buy gear and practice on my home windows! Lord knows they need some good cleaning!
Before you get started, find out what licensing and insurance will run for that area along with potential California regulations.
This should get you started! Although there is tons more to it than this. If they have no screens I drop the price quite a bit because you will have no removing, installation or cleaning labor. If they have a lot of windows in a row on one side of the property I deduct a little bit, discount for repeat business. Keep in mind if they are super dirty or well maintained.
I would use that for any size window, usually in a residential home it all averages out. For just the outside you should charge 60% of the total.
