How to Wash a Roof

I have an opportunity to do some roof washing for several duplexes. There is mold/algae growing on the roof and gutters. I rarely ever am asked to do this kind of work. So, what would be the easiest way to remove the algae?

I was thinking about just getting a backpack pump sprayer, spray on 50% water, 50% bleach with some Dawn, let dwell for 20-30 minutes, and rinse off with a pressure washer on 1,000 psi.

Your thoughts?

Spend the $500 for the fat boy set up the roofs have to be worth 4x that and you’ll be done in a day.

Do not rinse with a pw
Spray and forget

That’s a big job for you’re first. The basic roof cleaning process is fairly simple but there’s alot of little things to be aware of. Gutters need to be clean. You need to divert run off. Protect land scape people belongings etc…
