Hudson backpack for wfp use

Thinking about grabbing one for the smaller jobs that aren’t worth the full setup. There are some topics on this but nothing detailed, concerned about water pressure. Anyone have an idea of what these can push out? Manual vs electric?

I thought I read that the Surflo backpacks push out at 100 psi. I don’t know if it’s really quite that much but what I can say is that I never realized the potential of fan jets until I started using the Surflo backpack on very hydrophobic glass. It had all but given up on them. Guess I just need a pump box for my regular tap pressure work.

I highly recommend getting a backpack. So easy to use. Battery lasts long. I put mine on a small fold up hand truck. Works great!

Awesome thanks for the feedback. How much do they run? I’ve been meaning to grab one, just been on the back burner. I could pull that out to bang out the tops of resi work, if applicable, and seriously cut down the setup time.

Just DO NOT buy one from J. Racenstein. Mine came and I’m sure it was a banged up return that they could pass on to me cause they probably figured it would cost me too much to send it back from Canada. I nursed it back to health and I love it. Use all the time.

I paid $300 but I’ve seen them for $200 on Amazon.

Just got the Hudson never pump delivered yesterday. Going to send it out on a couple of commercial jobs where running hose would not work. I will be converting it to hook up to WFP in the next day or so. Will keep you posted.

I’ve had a Hudson for almost a year and it works great. You should be ale to find it online for $100-120 at most places. Flow up to 3-4 stories is fine.

What type of valve do you use to control the flow?

That’s legit, how many average size windows can you get out of it? Assuming you restrict unnecessary flow

It’s just over 4 gallons per fill and I get around 20 panes +/- depending on how dirty or how hydrophobic the glass is. If I want to conserve water I have a ball valve where I join the backpack hose to the pole hose. i can control flow and shut off at any time. If I don’t bring my hydrotube to the job I’ll bring the full backpack plus two 5 gallon gerry cans of pure water which will do a small to small/medium size house.

Does anyone have any pictures of their set up or video of it working? I was thinking about building this very thing today and am suprised to find out it is a legit idea that others are using. I can’t get over how much great information is on this site. I have been lurking for about three weeks and I have already picked up a ton of knowledge. Thanks a lot to all of you guys
Joe

Nevermind I just looked again at MyWagga’s video on Youtube I guess that is what you guys are talking about. I didn’t catch that that was a homemade item the first time.
Thanks
Joe

Would any of you mind sharing a link to the backpack that you have? I don’t see any here at WCR.

Thank you,

Here are 3 videos (From the ‘Testing The Waters’ series) that focus on the Hudson Backpack.

Testing the waters part 3. First look at the Hidson backpack, how it arrives to you and basic function.

Please note, although I wear the hudson like a proper backpack in video 5, I almost never wear it now. I usually use a 2 wheel hand cart to move it around the property.

Thanks Mark,
Just to let you know I have watched most of your videos and they are great. I am just getting ready to go into business for myself cleaning windows again, I have been away from it for almost 10 years and your videos were very helpful sorting through all the new gear out there and helping me decide what to spend money on. Thank you very much.
Joe

Clean, non-intrusive, and fast… I like it

Is that the shurflow? Reviews on both these packs are meh at best. Battery issues, motor leaking, etc

I bought a Hudson and it completely stopped running after about 10gal. of use. I did some trouble shooting with connections, switch etc. and then called Hudson. It was helpful that I had already tested the battery voltage and by-passed the on-off switch to test it. When I spoke to customer service they were thinking it was one of those issues. Since I had already checked those she just sent me a new pump (took care of the problem). I had lost confidence and ordered a second backpack as a back-up. The second one has worked fine with no problems. I replaced the pump on the original that I purchased and it now works well too. Not that I want to work on them but they are pretty simple and easy to pull apart etc.

As far as the pressure I always have to dial it back (it has a lot) with a ball-valve that I mounted with the quick-connect.

I had the same problem battery went i thought it was cause i left it charging to long, They sent me a new one worked fine.
then my pump went got a new one of those, and now its been working fine. Im going to buy another one for a back up also.
