I am open for suggestions

I have this job to do on Oct. 8th. It has an atrium inside that is similar to the picture I have attached (not a picture of the actual job but a similar picture I found on the net. Instead of open space below there is a pool of water)

Keep in mind this is INSIDE the house

I would love to hear some suggestions on how I can clean these windows from you mighty fine experts out there.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Scaffolding possibly. I am not sure what the rules are with
the base of it in the water though.

It would be interesting to water fed those from the inside. How
would you water fed those without standing right underneath the
rinse water? I know it is something that has been discussed but
are there any uniform answers??

maybe you could build a platform over the pool out of two-by-fours and plywood, and then set up an A-frame ladder on the platform?

I don’t know, scaffolding on wheels?

Just throwing around ideas, two scaffolding sets, one on each side on wheels then an extension ladder or two for the platform going over the pool.

Scaffolding holds a lot of weight. One time I put a stage beams on a couple sets of scaffolding, the weights on a sloped roof but the scaffolding held the beams, the stage and two guy, not to mention cable and engines.

Water fed the insides with a indoor wfp, you could easily make one n not spend over a grand for a new one.

Sounds unsafe. That’s what telescoping ladder planks are for.

Stupid architects.

Can the pool floor handle scaffolding or would it damage it? How high up is it? Can you stand in the water with some waders and pole it with a zero degree?
If you wfp the inside unless it was with the inside wfp yer gonna get dirty water everywhere. Even using a zero degree youre gonna get dirty water drips on the walls and floor…but you can use another long pole with a clean damp paint roller and hit those dirty drips right away. If its really bad and the dirt messes up the pool, you might want to hit up a pool cleaner and see what he would charge to clean up after you and make the water look right, factor that into the bid too.

Only options I see Brett are zero degree or indoor wfp bro.

The good part is, I doubt anyone in your area would be able to do it, so I would have to guess your price is the bottom line cuz you are the only one with the solution.

Its alot of zero degree work, but make it worth your time bro, good gig by the way. I love those types of jobs.

If you had to set up a pik or extensions planks over the pool, what would be the longest required span?

Hey Brett, what about painters stilts?

I agree with Tory on this one Brett.

Just curious though, would it be possible for them to drain the pool for you? If they would do that, you could easily reverse pole them. I would just wet them down like you normally do and then use a large ledger in reverse to ensure proper finishing. I think John Kiesser from Metropolis Window Cleaning? has a video of using a wfp in a pool to clean second story windows. I will see if i can find that link for ya.

Tory,

Draining the pool is not an option for two reasons. The first is that I am doing this job in preparation for a charity event that they are hosting for about 400 people the next day. I also have some glass walls around the pool to clean as well and I asked her if she can drain the pool so I can work from the pool side instead of hanging upside down for a couple of hours and it was just out of the question. (see attached photo). The pool inside the house connects to all of the other pools (5 in total) so it would take a couple of days to drain.

Here is the part that is going to kill you Tory… You were taking about the price of the job, well, I am doing it for FREE. I am donating the work to the charity. The good part is that my advertisement will be in the program and all of the attendees are millionaires and above. Also, the homeowner has agreed to have me do the home on a monthly basis on a go forward basis.

Brett I still say a indoor wfp is the only good option. Don’t think your gonna make a mess, its a light spray of mist n wipe off with the pad. But your gonna use a lot of lint free pads. Nice that your donating this service, hopefully you land big jobs with those millionaires.

Wasn’t me who said drain the pool. Free work huh? Well, I hope you update as to how it works out, you always have great ideas so I am anxious to see how this pans out.

Had a similar situation at a health club that we did except it was the painter who had to repaint some duct work which was right above the Olympic size pool that had already been filled. They took a fiberglass ladder and placed the base in the water and leaned the top against some beams to reach the duct work. Then a painter in shorts, got wet… In your case, you might need to get into the pool with a ladder leaning against the glass frames if you have to get your nose against the glass. However, I would definitely use the wfp if possible. If you do the job a few days before the party, the regular pool filtration would probably clean up the water fine. My guess is that the bottom side of that glass is not that dirty considering the environment it’s in.

Come on guys, keep it simple, forget about an indoor wfp, and just use your regular wfp with the water turned down. You will just need a helper there to clean up and drips that get on the wall or the floor, as far a dirty water, if you are putting out 1/2 to 1 gallon a minute of pure CLEAN water, so you are going to put a lot more clean water in the pool than dirty. If there is a lot of dust up there, take a swifter sweeper to it first, jump in the pool, wfp it and have some fun!!

Also, make sure your helper has a camera, let him take a ton of pics with you in the pool, while wfpoling. Then you will have the pics to come up with a killer flyer, spouting out about how your company goes to any length’s to keep your customer’s property looking great!!

These are the type of gigs that I get all of the time, because most conventional, (definition, boring, and scared ), window cleaning companies don’t think out of the box, and they give people a reason to not hire them.

Do this job for charity, have a great time, and book that monthly gig!!!

Any questions, just let me know.
