I found out that I hate passing out flyers

Skipper I read somewhere that you are the legendary fastfanner

I only cover Austin and certain areas in Austin.

The neighborhood you were canvasing is a good example (IMHO) of where knocking is a waste of time and will irritate customers. These homes all run around $450k - $750k and in short, when people are not working they don’t want to be bothered by someone selling services. Their free time is premium - YMMV

I read on here someone thought you were a person that went by the fastfanner. I assuming by you answer that you are not said person.

guess our rich people here in canadia are just friendlier then, we mostly canvas 500k and up, they’re the ones who can afford it.
or…could it be a difference in approach? there is certainly a difference between canvassers here for example two of my canvassers this summer would get up 4 or 5 deals per day while 2 did not get a single deal ever.

You are correct another member told a respected member to go f himself and lost the respect of the community. And have not seen the offender post on here in a while

Actually the mailbox is off limits by federal law. If you put a stamp on it you might be able to stick it in the mailbox, but I wouldn’t touch them.

Regarding flyers, every area is different and you might check your local ordinance.

Over here, if someone wanted to be a jerk, they could call you to come and remove your flyer. It’s against the law in certain areas to hang things. Everybody does, but if someone wants to, they can mess with you.

Yeah, our rich people are in debt up to their eyeballs. I love the middle class neighborhoods more than the high end ones.

did not read a single word besides the title

 1. EDDM

 2. I hate everything and all. It’s called “work” for a reason.

What? Work!!! Damn…

How do you guys handle business and residential neighborhoods that say no Soliciting?

I Check ordinance for official rules
If I need permits if not
I only skip houses with gates or if they are displaying no soliciting signs in door or window

Thanks for the help.

I’m starting to get use to the flyering. I realized I’m out of shape.before I left my old job I was mostly doing mid rise caulking/water proofing. For about 6 months with little window cleaning between projects I was mostly sitting in a chair . I’m getting faster with flyers and less tired at the end of the day.

Doing fliers is good for you, you really have to want it to get the motivation to go walk around doing it.

I’m going to be doing my first EDDM campaign in a couple weeks, I want to really push some winter services and I’m not interested in going out in the colder weather door to door fling the fliers. Also, being wicked sick doesn’t help so walking around for hours is out of the question for me at the moment.

Let us know what kind of response rate you get from it. I want do do it as soon as I can afford it it’s the only way to get into certain markets

With the weather being so warm I’m pushing a “before holiday window cleaning special” of some kind, shower door restoration, screen repair/replacement, and dryer vent cleaning. Definitely adding some sort of coupon/incentive on there.

Gotta start filling up my second week in December, gutter cleaning season will be over soon enough thankfully ha.

I don’t read the signs.

There is one street, super weathly, 2 groups of mail boxes have “please no soliciting” under each newspaper bin. I respected that. However I picked up many job by choosing not to read.

I did once get a very angry, threatening call for doing it on a private road. However, i had just done a home on the street so I was invited in. She was convinced I had “trespassed” by doing so. Naturally she claimed her hubby was a lawyer…
