the reason you have more likes given then received.

Iām sure everyone thinks Gordon Ramseys an asshole but you listen people that are experts in there field. To me this is something to learn from. IMO
Honestly Jaran you only really have one option and it is the same thing that I have told other guys who have come to me in this situation.
Have the window repair guy come and check out the glass at whatever time of day that the customer says to, see what he says, go from there. if he says that there is no way it is your fault then make the decision of what you want to do. If he says it was likely your fault then decide what you want to do. Really either way you have the choice if you want to repair/replace the glass or if you want to forget this job/customer and move on with your life. Worst case it costs you some money and a customer, best case you are able to walk away and keep this customer. Either way it is just a matter of how you want to handle it after you have the expert opinion.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Works every time.

This is the ugly side of being your own boss
I know this is a day late, and a dollar short- but I think this is where you ultimately went wrong. I would never accept blame or the possibility thereof until I was certain that I had caused the damage. I obviously would fess up to something that I knew I caused, but Iām not going to put myself in the hot seat until Iām sure.
Iām really feeling for you, Jaran. I just want to urge you to try and remove yourself mentally from the situation. Itās difficult to do, but itās the only way to make truly sound decisions from here on out. The emotion and panic in your comments is causing further possible damage to your reputation (people can find this stuff- itās a public forum). And I would strongly advise not entertaining the thought of dissolving your business to avoid liability. If youāve kept your finances straight and run your corporation correctly, your personal assets are protected by the corporate veil. Iām no legal expert, but I imagine an action such as dissolution for the purpose of avoiding liability would be considered grounds for piercing the veil, and they could then go after your personal assets.
Sidenote: I see all to often, the phrase āIām a business owner, not a window cleaner.ā
Itās situations like this where we might want to think more about that whole ālowly window cleanerā part it all.
- At the end of the day, youāre paid to clean someones glass, thatās all⦠the approach you take/how you get there is on you.
@Jaran, I feel for you and have my fingers crossed that you get out this with your ass in-tact.
I may pick on ya sometimes, but if I saw you face to face, Iād buy you a beer.
That said, Garry was right⦠he tried to warn you.
(the āball kickā was a justifiable option, he just chose to taking a running start)
Guys am I missing something? couldnt those hairline scratches be simply polished out by hand with some cerium oxide and a white pad?
is polishing over coated glass a no no?
Alex Lacey i should have used proper grammar I never said āI may have scratched your windowsā i was speaking in 3rd person thanks sincerely for caring.
Well, keeping in mind that youāve hinted it may not be silicone, but something similar:
I donāt happen to think pushing silicone around with a scraper is very effective. For me, itās not about scratching - it just doesnāt work well enough.
Iāve seen suggestions on Window Cleaning Network forums many times to use a melamine sponge like Mr Clean Magic Eraser to wipe up - or a powder such as baby powder or corn starch to absorb silicone.
Many times.
Surely there has been similar talk here - and Iām not saying that facetiously.
Sure, there should have been instructions, but if you had have asked your peers, you may well have learned a better way.
Anyway, I believe Dan Fields is great at calming down a distraught window cleaner. You did well to call him.
Just be sure, if youāre going to take his advice or discuss it here, that you understand correctly.
And above all else, be straightforward and honest with him - if he thinks youāre jerking him around, you may find his fuse is at least as short as mine.
Well that just sounds lazy. As desperate as u have sounded in yur previous posts and yur looking 2 be spoon fed⦠oh and by the way, welcome back
The conversation should have wentā¦āYou have silicone on your windows which I can get off but the methods I know to remove it have the risk of scratching your window.ā Give them the decision, donāt make it for them. Any time I find a home that needs more than spot scraping I tell the customer "I can get 99% of that say paint splatter off but there is a small chance the method I will employ(scrapper) will cause some scratches knowing full well I can do it 99% of the time without causing a scratch. Most people agree that they would rather have clean windows with potentially a few random scratches than what is on themā¦but most importantly to me THEY DECIDED.
Putting that down in the invoice with initials and your golden!
Magic erasers scratch glass?
No, but it does take forever
Iād rather pay 4 it taking me 4ever(and being paid 4 it) than replacing glass. Wake the fukk up people!
Easy, Im just saying
I get that and nothing personal⦠the many noobs hangin in the Romper room play ground need 2 learn their new found profession.
