Bid on two houses. Both huge. Well, one is more HUGE than the other. Same owner, houses are across the street from each other in a super upscale part of the city.
73 windows, exterior only, 3 story, all divided frames, $612.
34 windows on the other property that is just finishing construction. Yea, it is a TRUE TO FACT CCU. Paint and stucco splatter, 2 story, large windows. $1,230.
“Okay, thank you for your time and proposal.” :::crickets:::
Yea, whatever. You have a million+ dollar mansion and building an only slightly smaller one across the street - I’m sure it is the price of having your windows cleaned that keeps you up at night. Back to working on homes based in reality on Monday. Exterior small 1 story, $136 before lunch.
Amen to that. Quoted a 3 story ccu in Tampa last week. Bid high, happy if we get it. Happy if we don’t. Not being a doofus on this ccu quote this time around.
The only way I go over $10 per window (pane? I never know what that means!!) is on a CCU that will require me to spend a lot of time on each window (may or may not have more than one pane ;-)). I always make mention that if their contractor would have insured the windows were protected during construction/remodel, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
Here is a discussion on per pane or per window. It seems some areas just are too confusing for a definitive answer. My area has a mix of mostly double hungs, casement, and awning type windows - plus the labor intensive French pane cutups that some designer was proud of loading up! I start out per window, if an over the phone I ask if how many panes of glass are there in the window. https://community.windowcleaner.com/t/price-per-pane-or-per-window/23519
And that’s why I stay away from construction clean up. Builders are cheap. Our prices are typically average around $10/pane (I don’t bid by the pane or by window) and we’re getting plenty of work.
It seems like a lot, but the cost of living here is skyrocketing.
Here’s an example of average price with one of our windows. Once again we don’t price per pane or window, but by square footage and other factors. This is based on five years of experience with houses in our area.
I am staying busy 4+ days per week with residentials. Mostly return customers with a few referrals added every week. Retention is the only way to succeed in this business. You treat your customers like gold and they will be good as…
