I'm looking for feedback on estimating tools. Here is free version of window counter app

I made a free web based version of the Window Counter App. If anyone wants to check it out feedback & ideas would be super cool. Free Window Counter

Window Counter Pro App

I want to build a more robust estimating tool for window cleaners that makes the estimating process faster and repeatable.

The Idea I have so far is it captures customer data then creates an estimate or bill for that customer that can be exported. What ideas do you have?

If you want to help shape this app, that would be super cool.

I just finished a “first draft” counting form for my website. Seems so clunky…

This would be awesome! I’ll check it out.

My first questions are:

  1. Is there a way to set prices and have it save the info so I don’t have to keep going back and setting them again?
  2. Would it be possible to have something similar set up for clients to put in their window counts, get an estimated price with a “calculate” button, and we also get sent the results? Or is this strictly a Cleaner-side tool?

Looks like it might work for the American window cleaner, most of the windows I clean daily are configurations that are not on the app

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the feedback. Great questions.

It’s mainly just a tool for window cleaners right now.

Tell me more about what your trying to do with your form? Feel to DM or email if you prefer
[email protected].

I could help point you in right direction or if you want I could implement a custom solution for you to use on your website.

I have been working on making a new estimating tool where you could save a complete estimate with customer data and job details including window counts and then export it or store in a crm. This is where user feedback would be super helpful so I could make a tool that is useful but not to expensive.

The way the free app works now is you create a counter and it is saved in the browser untill you delete it. So you could just reset an individual counter to 0 and use it again.

The paid native app I built has more features like using your own images, editing data on the fly, a simple customer database and more.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Mike

Steve, Thanks for the feedback. I agree it would be much better if internationalized. One thing you could do with the free app is not use images and just name counters something meaningful to you. With the window counter pro app you can add your own images.

Cheers,
Mike

Nice, I like it. If it were downloadable in an app, I’d use it for counting up jobs.
It would be helpful if you could pre-save the most often used settings.

Micah, Thanks for the feedback. Saving settings is great idea.

While this web version of the Window Counter Pro Native App does not have as many features. You can save it on your home screen. A caveat being it can’t be saved on iOS Chrome. Another caveat is since this is a web version you need internet.

Here is a link explaining how to save a webpage to home screen in case you’re not familiar.

Hope this helps

What setting would you want to pre save?

hey Mike!

The tool I’m trying to do for potential customers would allow them to go to my website, enter the number of various window types they have (I have a reference picture so they know how to count them), and then “submit” their window count to me. I look it over, and then email them an estimate. This way, estimates could be done mostly online so that they have an idea of how much a job would be without having to schedule an in-person estimate.

I wish there was a way to have people upload their own photos, but Squarespace doesn’t allow that (as far as I’m aware).

Anyway, I do really like this app you’re developing, and I’ll definitely be using it in the future!

Hey Ben,

The way I would approach what your trying to do is embed custom code into your website.

Here is a reference you may have seen.

https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815928-Adding-custom-code-to-your-site

The next step would be to design the user interface that your customer would use to
enter their data. Name address photos etc.

Then you need to save that data somewhere and do something with it.
There may different approaches to this step.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

Years ago before I knew how to code I started just like you are now. If you really want to do it your self just start by taking it 1 step at a time.

Cheers,
Mike
