Pressure washers who use Joe Walters here’s a public service announcement
STOP BREAKING THINGS
Rates jumped 25% when I asked why I was told lots of claims from pressure washers.
So either learn to do it right or call a professional

What type of claims are typical with this?
Are these easily avoidable ?
Blowing holes in people houses? Spraying water into electrical sockets?
Reality is something can happen, that’s what insurance is for. But I was told there was a tremendous amount of expensive claims.
I would say most are operator error and you can really jack stuff up
Don’t you know this is the standard reply from insurance companies that want to raise rates? I’ve yet to have one that honestly says they just wanted more profit.
Don’t get too upset over it. Just comparison shop and get someone else.
Letting your insurer know your shopping prices at the point you receive rate increases is a great way to show them you are paying attention, many just pay it. They may also revisit the increase if brought to their attention.
Odds are a 25% increase usually won’t happen unless there is a change in policy or income levels of doing business.
No one offers this level of insurance or specific for window cleaning/pressure washing
Care and custody
Do your homework most biz liability isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on
Sounds to me like you wanted ‘boutique’ insurance that is like no other insurance. Like any other area of life, that brings a higher cost.
Nah, wanted insurance to actually cover what we do. You may want to examine yours you may be surprised by what’s actually not covered like
Say you have a ladder go through a wall of windows. It’s very likely general business liability insurance will not it cover it. Why? Because as a professional an insurance company assumes you wouldn’t do that so while they would cover a person injured you would likely be on the hook for the damage.
It’s called Care and Custody make sure you have that rider otherwise you scratch up a new CCU you get to buy the new windows
I have CC&C with my policy. My insurer added it when I got general liability. It also insures my equipment from theft, fire, etc.
IMO, if you want to pay for a boutique insurance, go for it. But there are other insurers that cover us and what we do.
I agree…if you have high likelihood of breaking windows and scratching glass. Personally I don’t. I want my insurance to cover primarily the Jaguar that my ladder might hit or the person that tries to sue me for injury.
In the past I’ve broken windows (mainly stuck or odd storms) and just paid cash to fix. I don’t scratch glass much less an entire house full of windows.
I explained this to the agent and got exactly what I needed.
Joe Walter isn’t boutique they write for Liberty Mutual
Make sure your care and custody is what you think it is
I have. As a matter of fact, I questioned the heck out of my agent and the underwriters about it.
Walters isn’t the only place to get a good policy, but not every insurer writes good policies either. Walters are just the ones that market to window cleaners.
So what the premium for the year and carrier I’m now at $1280
I’m zero loyalty insurers
Farm Bureau - 780 a year. I carry ALL my insurance through them. Vehicles, house, life, toy, business.
I’m low rise insured. I don’t clean over 3 stories.
I pay 1325 just for windows with JDW
@anon82274079 said it very well. Farm Bureau is one to look into. They are great and reasonable.
