Irrigation Lines and such

So I have a job at a golf course in another month. Pure water is no doubt the way to go, but I cannot find any traditional hose bibs on the building; nearby however, there are several plastic covers on the ground, indicating irrigation lines.

So what do I do, can I use the irrigation and if so how?

Ev

Those irrigation boxes are more than likely full of valves for the individual lines. Even if you find the point of connection you probably won’t be able to tie in unless you have some specific adaptor fittings.

I’d ask whoever is in charge of ground maintenance where to tie in. Or you can turn
the valves on the irrigation and point sprinklers toward windows.

There should be a garage with a garden hose connection…

They have Rain-bird connectors that attach to the fittings that are in the ground that you pointed out…google rain bird valve key / images

If the female fitting in the ground resembles this

Then you’ll need to get a male fitting that resembles this…

You’ve got to research it and then find a place to buy this local or on line, but you need to figure the right size. I bet the maintaince / landscaping crew could tell you the size and maybe let you use theirs !

Looks like you’ve been around the block a few times Mr. G from the NW!

Also find out where the water is coming from before you tie into it, I have worked at two golf courses in the past, first one was onsite well water, the other one was pumped out of several ponds and when they were low they would fill those ponds from the river.

They may also be gray water.

Dan the Man…

Info I got when working in California 20 years ago, info retention is key ! What I’d like to know is who was
the first person to implement Mr.DI and and pure water to the Street gal Ms Tucker Pole. Since she met
Mr. DI, she’s become a lady, with a lot of new off shoots !

Sort of like they should build a monument to the person who invented the wheel…

Oh Please Dan It’s PNW !

Yo EM n M-Man

What Steve-o is saying is at the apex…Be sure you have at the least a DI system with a carbon and micron
filter hooked up…the Carbon first then the micron and then into the DI tank !

Dangerous

EMM-Man again when you tie into the pipe like Jay is saying it just might be recycled water that hasn’t been
treated…not drinkable and must be purified !

If all else fails do as the SEV-MAN points out…Check the garage. Eh Severn…

Dave

You know EMM… There just might be a water spigot on the building…Check for a square flat plate, 4" x 4"
nickel plated lid flat against the wall…there will be a spigot there if you find one. That will need a water key…

Ask to borrow an adapter to the appropriate clean water valves; take it to your local irrigation supply and purchase one for yourself. I paid about $50 for a Rain Bird QC.
