                                                         How does it look?
                                                                                LinO

That looks like a great price to me. How long do you think it will take you?

Yeah, I’d say that’s in the ballpark. If a customer had given me those figures over the phone, I would feel comfortable telling them it would most likely be between 450 and 600.

Two factors not mentioned that would bump the price up are: 1) is any razoring required? 2) what kind of ladder work will be involved, if any.

that’s around $3+ a window. Is that what the figure is where you live.
I’d try to get atleast $5 a pane.

Well, if I were just starting out and I booked almost $500 worth of work for one day I think I would feel pretty good.

We can’t tell you what is right for you. We do not know your skills. Nobody can argue against making $500 in a day.

I say go find some more

Lino,
since I am new to the over the phone estimates, and love learning on here…on your double hung(18 win. 64 panes) …are these storms? frenchies? I am just wondering why there are so many panes on the doubles.
Dave

some razor, basic ladder, a little roof work.

Being new to the game, I didn’t know if I could justify. On the other hand I don’t want to be the one who drives down prices. Would you recommend me making the adj. on the next bid?
LinO

Graat Ques.,
Not fully getting the CLEAR VIEW from the “industry” standard, I categorized a pane as each piece of glass ie: one DH = 2 windows [each w/ an out and an in] 4 pc. of glass 4x18=72 [looks like I gave them an 8 pane discount]
LinO

Brother, there is NO WAY you could drive down the prices by yourself. You can only drive down the price for yourself.

Lord willing I’ll push for 8hrs, I have no presonal example to measure against.
LinO

Thanks
good to know.
Don’t want to do point [b] either.

If I’m reading this formual right, you’re counting total number of surfaces, not panes. In this formula, you counted 18 double hungs as 72 panes. But, 18 double hungs would be 36 panes. You would use 36 as your number if you’re calculating rates on a per pane basis. Calculate by the pane for in and out, then for outs only, multiply by 60-70% (your choice) for an out only price.

So if I’m right, and your “134” pane count is really 67 panes…then $455 is a GREAT price…for YOU! That’s $6.79 per pane. I’ve only made that on light construction cleans. I’d say that if anything, you’re probably bringing prices UP in your area. If you can keep getting that, go for it.

i always leave a quote that looks like this whether they asked for it or not.

Wash in-out $$$
Wash out only $$$
Clean Gutters $$—this i just put in for my notes so i dont have to make trips to find out how long the gutters are. so when and if they want it done, u will have all ur pricing there

Sounds like fun. If you’re new you’ll learn a lot and the hourly won’t be the same as after you’ve done it for a while … but who cares. That sounds like a decent price.
