Sure. Got any photos or details on the job?

No I don’t have a job yet, I just want a genral Idea of how I should price windows … and how much I should charge.

$2-25 per window.

You probably need to make at least $100/hr. up there. If the window slides up or slides sideways, charge $14. That includes inside/outside and wipe the frames and the sills down for that price. Screens get cleaned for $5. Cleaned is removed, brushed and washed with your applicator mop. Tapped dry and go around the frames with a cloth. Tracks get brushed, vacuumed and wiped down for another $5. Fixed/picture windows for $7-15 depending on how big they are. Sliding glass doors are $25 for inside/out/frames and screen brushed. Individual/cut up/french panes are $1.25 per pane per side. Clean the frames as well.

This is pretty “premier” pricing so you need to deliver on a premium quality product including yourself. Collared shirt and decent pants if you’re not going to get a uniform. Be clean and don’t smoke before or on the job. Have an estimate sheet or template if you’re not going with a software program. Don’t scribble your estimate on a napkin.

There are plenty of fantastic clients to be had but you’ll also have decent competition as well. Good luck!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so much … that’s about what I was thinking. I just got my shirts a few days ago, I was thinking about $100 hr , the prices you gave are very close to what I came up with and yes I am offering premier service. I have most of my ducks in a row, just need to get some sort of CRM. Smoking do not apply to me , I don’t smoke or drink … so no bad smell to worry about. How would say I should take payments ? Or what would be the best way to take payment?

I guess you have the experience then, if not you might have to work for that number.

Steve is correct. Even at those prices if you are not up to speed you’ll end up around $50-60 / hr. The higher hourly rate will come from less trips to the truck, less times re-mopping a window, less ladder movements etc. etc.

I’m still around $60-70 / hr. cause I’m too slow in a lot of things.

I use House Call Pro but it hits you for $150 a month. I budgeted enough cash from my previous job to give me a 9 month runway before I needed to actually make money. I think they have a lower cost version but it’s feature crippled and not worth it in my eyes.

I have received a few compliments from people on the professional look of HCP. I accept check, cash or credit card (in that order of preference). CC’s get run through HCP and they hit you for around 2.8% or something like that. Don’t charge someone to run a card, it’s just annoying. At the end of 6 months or a year take a look at how much you were charged in CC fees and just increase your window price by a small chunk across the board, it makes life easier and customer’s can get their “points” or “miles” or whatever.

Ok I see and I get what you are saying

I use Venmo, and the business transaction fees are so annoying. I’ll be keeping this in mind!

Yeah these are pretty close to my prices as well in South Orange County. Even then I typically end up with around $65-75 per hour because I take my time and do a lot of details that most guys overlook. For me, quality is more important than saving a few minutes by cutting corners.
