Is this for Real?

:confused:i saw this today at lowes on krud kutter, is this a joke?

It’s a play on words and marketing. It’s true that bleach will not kill “ALL” molds (some strains of it) - but it does kill virtually all molds you’d come into contact with at a home. And it is considered environmentally unfriendly. Will it damage materials? Sure, in various dilutions - carpet, clothes, etc. It can dull stainless steel in a strong solution… and other things.

However, there are many products sold to the mold remediation industry that won’t do much of anything. They’re “certified” and heavily marketed and backed by tons of money - but they aren’t fungicides or mildewcides. They’re much more suited (and designed) for disinfecting/sanitizing.

My point is only that it’s more hype than substance and many uneducated homeowners will fall for it.

i’ve heard that some studies have shown that bleach may not kill mold, it may just remove the color. but hey, if it makes it only makes it invisible, than its cool with me, jobs done as far as im concerned.

a lot of the products that kill all of the bad stuff, also kill the good stuff. for instance you have beneficial bacteria in your lungs. what happens when you spray lysol in the air? you breath it in and then what?

also, you cannot completely disinfect porous material. i think that techinically to treat wood for mold you have to apply, sand, vacuum. i think you have to do that 3 times. i’m not mold remediation certified, just for water damages
