The concept seemed really great, but so far they have been such a pain to use. The holes constantly don’t line up, plus the size lock they said to get doesn’t fit in the holes even when they do line up.
My solution has been to redrill the holes bigger myself. Has anyone else experienced this, or am i just doing something wrong?
That fancy system seems like it would be prone to problems. We just use a very heavy chain and a big padlock. Quick and easy, can lock/unlock all ladders in 30 seconds. You even can get it around the 2’ step ladder.
What’s nice about this system is that it both secures the ladder for transport and locks it at the same time. Except for the issues i was having with the locks not fitting properly, it’s a great system. You simply hook under the crossbar, spin the small piece till it’s tight, and then slip a padlock through the holes. Problem was the holes didn’t always line up well enough and the lock wouldn’t slip through, but i re-drilled them again and i think it’s working properly now. Now, the whole process is done within 30 seconds or so. Before i was using ratchet straps, which are cumbersome, and a cable lock.
