Check it out, this house and office has the same owner, and i have to quote both. But holy crap there are so many french panes. And i need advice to do interior and exterior. The pictures are too big so i’ll upload more. But The office has all of those french panes and you can see there are french panes above all the windows, if you zoom in you can see even more. I have a reach it mini. I feel like that would help a lot as long as i risne really well? What about the interior for this office and house? i feel like i’ll have to cut down some channels to match the sizes of the panes for the house or is there a better way to do the inside? How much would you guys charge for both buildings done inside and out?
There is a pretty standard answer on the site that I’ve taken to as well. Estimate how long you think it will take, (I add 15%) times that by what you need to make an hour and then figure in PITA. There you go. How long have you been doing windows?
P.S. I’d hate to step out of that second floor “patio” out back in the middle of the night
A wfp system should be your best friend for the exterior. Inside goes quickly too if you have a good system. I have a set dollar amount per pane for these kind of jobs. Maybe more… NO LESS.
I find it to be of no help for people to tell someone to just “water fed pole” a project if the person does not already own a WFP! Most people don’t just walk into a store and throw down $1,000+ for a pole and $500 to $2,000 for the rest of the setup if they don’t already own one.
So…
Cut a channel to fit the panes in order to streamline your work. You will find a rhythm in short time.
Don’t charge out of your own pocket; French panes are more work than standard windows - obviously.
Be confident in your pricing and diligent in your work. If you are new at this you will hate it; learn how to enjoy it.
Have a step stool or ladder and lay down some large towels for inside to protect everything underneath your work.
You haven’t mentioned how long it has been since the last clean - get in the habit of asking that. A long time? It will most likely be dusty inside, gently pre-dust with a cheap paintbrush.
Clean it like you’re putting it up for sale.
I admit that does happen, but you are showing them that you take everything into consideration when you work up the estimate. Look-Act-Sound, professional.
