KAWASAKI, JAPAN — Japanese company Nippon Basic Co. will soon start large-scale production of a bicycle that doubles as a water purifier, the Business Recorder reported.
The Cycloclean uses manpower to drive a motor that pumps water through a series of filters, the article stated.
The bike, which boasts puncture-free tires, is capable of purifying 1.3 gallons of water per minute.
“If you can bike to a river, pond, pool or other sources of water, all you need is your leg power to produce clean drinking water,” said Yuichi Katsuura, president of Nippon Basic Co.
