Joy vs dawn vs professional soap which is better?

Joy, Joy, Joy. We used Joy and ammonia for years then switched to gg4 with a squirt of Joy last year, gg3 this year and still add a squirt of joy. we think it helps the squeeg slip a little better and we are addicted to the bubbles.

I’d like to add that a milky white effect on the glass can not only be from oxidized frames but also residue from past cleaners and ammonia. I had this regular client, when I cleaned their inside windows the first time it was the first time they ever had them done and although very dirty, they cleaned up nice. Following year I returned and as soon as my strip washer hit the glass I could tell something was different. The solution took on a creamy look to it and I could smell ammonia. I asked the home owner if they cleaned the insides recently and they said their maid did them the last time and used vinegar, ammonia and something else but they weren’t sure. Either way it explained the milky residue.

OLD blue version of Dawn (itty bitty) dot squirts …
Then up to the BIG leagues, gold color mostly used on tinted film glass has more soap for better rubber guild. [URL=“http://shopwindowcleaner.com/soaps-chemicals/glass-cleaners-slip/titan-glass-gleam-3.html”]

I agree, I sometimes use it and it works well. One thing with Ecover, if you don’t keep it agitated it falls out of suspension.

For me, I like to keep it simple and go with what works. I throw a bar of lava in a bucket of water and let it dissolve. Just enough slip and all that grit works great quickly removing any stubborn residue.

i like to toss some hot lava in the bucket also!!
I just love all the steam!!!

Soap wars!!!

Dawn is the best. Game over!

We are a professional window cleaning company that uses professional window cleaning grade soap. We buy it by the 5 gallon bucket and use GG3.

I hear ya George. We are a professional window cleaning company that guarantees a professional result, and we use Dawn when we have to use soap at all. We prefer pure water.

There are an awful lot of people coming out of the woodwork to talk about soap again, I tell my customers there is 20 years of talent in that bucket and that is it!:stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, that Lava soap idea really works! Tried it on our patio door, awesome!
Say, anybody know what a Glass Renue system cost? Musta had some FD.

Dawn is decent…some of these organic soaps I get dont have the fatty oil in them I like these soaps because they dont leave as many streaks on the windows

Who taught you this? I would have never thought to use lava soap!

Thanks Funny. It was like you were calling people that use dawn unprofessional.

I noticed you said GG2? Did you mean to say 3 or 4. I did not know there was a 2. It would make sense that there would be a 1 and 2 if there is a 3 and 4. If you meant to say 2 then what is the difference between it and 3 or 4. Is there a 1?

I use Crystal Clear 550 for all my jobs. It works amazing. It takes the dirt right off with no scrubbing. Best window cleaning soap ever made! Only 2 complaints. One it does not smell that great and two it’s a little rough on the hands. Other than that no other soap holds a candle to it!

This thread is blowing my mind! First lava soap, and now 550 as an everyday soap?

There is a guy on another thread that mentioned using baby shampoo!!!

Clean windows are not cheap,
And cheap windows are not clean…
