I can TOTALLY visualize… and I nominate you for the “he knows what he’s talking about” award.
The difference seems to be where you pull the ladder away from the wall, I move forward towards the wall, but we both get the same result.
My hand is one rung below my waist, but… again, we’re heading towards the same conclusion.
I’ve moved the bottom to the right, and the weight of the ladder on the building allows me to ‘slide’ the top over.
The issue I see with moving the top first, is that the top is moving away from you towards the window. You may have (limited) control over where it lands/ends up… but you still have weight moving against you, heading towards glass.
Moving the bottom in then over, you’re tight up against the wall, so the weight is still at your foot, making it easier to pull the top over to its next resting place.
That being said, your way is EXACTLY how I try to show my guys to move piece ladders.

Like what you said in your post about doing crazy things… I’ve done a few myself and wonder how I was able to survive. There have been times that Ive been seriously injured or came close…Once I fell off a seven story building and I survived ! So we all make poor choices !’
Hi Dange! we creep all the time- I can creep by myself but I cant move my 40 ft vertically by myself. My guys can tho, but sometimes creepins safer. Good video and explanation.
The creep makes work a lot easier and it helps with production, the 40 is tough even for big guys so your right up there with the best Sharen ! Thanks for the plus on the vid.
