Just like Johnny Cash: one piece at a time

Imagine you, now knowing all that you do about the business, were just starting out and had very little money. I’ve got a bucket I can use, and a cheap applicator and squeegee from Lowe’s to practice with. However, buying a little here and a little there, what can you recommend I buy, in some sort of order of importance.

I was thinking about buying a squeegee handle, and buying assorted different sized channels to make multiple squeegees out of one handle. Also, a reach pole is in order as well.

What else would you guys recommend to be starting out, 30 bucks here and 50 bucks there?

J to the C snuck all his parts out in his big ol lunch box. So if you’re going to do the Cash method, go work for one of WCR’s competitors and slip things out as you go… Of course he assembled it over 24 years if I remember the song right.

Buy a couple of 18" squeegee channels and then cut one to be a 12" and a 6". Then get a professional handle (probably a swivel handle) and some extra rubber. Then practice your heart out. That’s less than $30 bucks.

Then a boab, belt, and t-bar (18" and 10") and a couple of extra mops (I’d get 2 - 18"s and 1 - 10"). The 10" lasts a lot longer because it doesn’t get used as much as my 18".

Then a 12’ pole which will get you 90% of your commercial work. I’m switching back to the unger optiloc. If you eat and sleep with that pole, it’ll be a rare job where you’ll need a ladder.

What about 50 bucks got me today with WCR?
Pulex 18" swivel T bar
2 Pules sleeves for the T bar
Etore Compact super bucket and lid
2 Hip clip towel holders.

Went to a local disty yesterday. 65 bucks bought me a fixi clamp, a 18" channel and another ergotech 18" T bar with a scrubber sleeve.

Shopping around and being smart with your money pays. Should bought ALL that stuff here. I’ve looked at prices other places, and I am pretty sure most everything I need I can buy from WCR store, and I will be watching for the free shipping deals like this weekend is.

Sometime soon I want to upgrade to a Unger 30’ optilock.

Those are a bear.

I have a 22 foot pole now and it comes up a little short at times. 22’ at a near 45 degree angle is no fun either.
