Ever tried raising your rates?
Yes and No, average is around $6-8 for single/double hung around here.

So be above average. Your market can support you raising rates if you can show increased value. There are guys on here that charge twice what their local average is and they stay busy…
Clean windows are not cheap,
And cheap windows are not clean…

What a troll! Who the hell does this?
I’m gonna start trolling some restaurant forums and inform them on how much a filet mignon really costs. Or some jewelers forums and inform them that diamonds, rubys and gold are really just rocks and that they shouldnt charge so much
I usually just post a Russell Westbrook video and then ignore them and focus on being even more awesome than I already am.
Is that just for the glass?
After 20 years cleaning windows I consider myself more than a Dr., more like a Plastic Surgeon.
If your going to do a deal of the day I strongly suggest that you do one like this and use a flat rate…ok maybe not.
The company that ran this Groupon last week in my area lives 3 hours away and has a F rating with the BBB. He still sold over 50 of them for $1.15 to $1.23 per pane (including screens and sills) depending on the package.

I thought I misread that they were from KC…but they really are wow! Good luck!
Amy Fellows-Serra, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion.
Since you shared a personal preference, I’ll share one with you, too: I wouldn’t pay more than $3 for a large bowl of pasta in an Italian restaurant. It bothers me. The real-world result of my firm convictions is that I rarely enjoy pasta at a restaurant. I have a consistently hard time finding a place that satisfies my personal pricing demands. The Olive Gardens bottomless pasta nights are the only exception!
As you said, the market dictates what a luxury service should cost, and which value propositions resonate the most. Window cleaning is a luxury service, and if you can’t or aren’t willing to pay the going rate, then so be it.
You can always clean your own windows, and I can always make my own pasta. Or we can buy the cheap stuff and lower our expectations.

Both one of my friends and I ran a groupon once, were both window cleaners and in the same town, He lost his a$$ I did not, it all depends on deal structure, the amount your willing to part with and if it leaves you room for upselling, out of the 50 deals I sold 10 so far have rebooked this spring at full price, it is possible to make money on them you just have to be very careful with your fine print and be VERY firm on the upselling price
What would you say the avg. is for full service including tracks and washing screens?
What do you do for a living, Amy?
Are you aware of what it takes to run a legitimate business, with employees?
Have you ever had your windows professionally cleaned?
As Judge Milian says “the cheap comes out expensive”, window cleaning is a luxury service, I’ve given estimates and people say the economy is bad, I guess some people think that since this is window cleaning we shouldn’t be able to make money doing this. I guess they want people to drive to their house, work all day and make 8 bucks an hour, I’ve done this for over 20 years now and have never gone hungry and continue to grow every year. Ten bucks a window is more then fair when you figure in insurance, labor, materials etc.
If a company is going to charge 7 bucks a window they probably can’t afford workers comp, when one of the employees falls and gets hurt doing a job they are going to go after the homeowner. Saving a couple bucks per window can be expensive in the long run.
I gave a regular customers neighbor the same estimate as I gave her, he thought that was to expensive, the next time I was at my regular customers house she said he was trying to do them himself and had fallen, I guess the broken arm was alot cheaper then the $300 he would of spent to have us do it.

Just saw your post was from 2012. Little late with that answer.
I charge $12, $15, and $18 per double hung. You can pay what you want, while we can charge what we want.
What’s accounts for the differences in price?
