Ladder Rack For Jeep Cherokee Classic

Guys, I’m wanting a secure way to attach a ladder to my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Classic for transportation to my resi jobs. I have a luggage rack A) didn’t know if that would suffice and B) wasn’t having any luck trying to locate a ladder rack for my vehicle. Just wondered what you all thought.

Also a question on resi jobs. I’ve done a few comm jobs as I am new to the window cleaning world but haven’t done any resi jobs yet and was wondering when you get to a house do you remove all the screens first or what’s your system? I don’t have a WFP yet so I will be poling and laddering everything for a while.

I previously had a Grand Cherokee that I would put my ladders on. I didn’t have any problems strapping the ladders (up to 32’ extension ladder) to the factory rack. If your Cherokee doesn’t have the cross supports then I would recommend that you go to Thule.com. They have racks for every vehicle made.

Thanks, I will try that then. I wasn’t sure if the factory racks would suffice. I am going to buy either a truck or a van in the near future but for now I was hoping to get by with the factory racks. Nice to know they worked for you.

If I remember correctly, they are rated for a total load of 200 pounds. Check the owners manual to be sure.

Cool, will do. Thanks Bob.

I have a 2001 Jeep Laredo and I consider it my second work vehicle. I give most of my bids and other business meetings/errands with this vehicle. My plan is to keep it until the damn thing just doesn’t move. I think it is a great work vehicle that is very multi-dimensional. I however have never strapped a ladder on top of the Jeep.

My advice…buy a 28 foot Gorilla ladder! I have two of them and they both fit in the back of my Jeep folded up at the same time! I would be able to clean 75% of my residential clients with just the Gorilla. I have a work van with a variety of extension ladders but I prefer to keep them on top of the truck, Gorilla is much easier to use and can be used for almost any window. Just food for thought…

Thanks Kyle, where did you purchase your Gorilla from?
