why do some of you have 40 foot ladders instead of stack

I don’t think anybody wants to go up 45ft feet on a stack ladder in today’s world but back in the day it was common place. Easy peasy. Proof on YouTube video

I said it wrong! way under 40 feet why would people opt to lug a 30 or 40 foot ladders around? I seem to maybe see this

I never owned an extension ladder. Just two ladders, my six piece sectional, and a 2 ft step ladder. Times have changed. Sectional ladders are safe at 40ft but people were making to many mistakes and accidents were increasing in frequency. Law suits ensued and the ladder company was forced to set a new height limit of four pieces for a safer ladder. Apparently above that height takes to much common sense for the average worker to set up safely, these days.

Extension ladders are wider, more stable at Heights, increase decrease in one foot increments.

Just a matter of preference, every tool has its place, it seems as it’s different for many people.

Because stack ladders suck and wfp is easier and safer.

Agreed. Lots of guys get ALL their work done without owning sectional ladders.

i got so use to stack that i want to nap when i see a wide ladder but im sure stack would make me nap if i went water fed so this is stupid

Never said there was a benefit.

We have had many bigger guys that don’t like that sectionals are skinnier, if it be walking up and down or standing in place working, just more room side to side.

Also rungs on sections are round which are harder on your feet than the flat rung extensions have.

I should realize that times are changing and they simple don’t do things like they use to. This is a good point to step out of the conversation.

I have 2 40ft extension ladders.1 straight and the other is pointed.They are great but by jesus do they make your van burn through fuel if you carry them around with you a lot!Only take them out on the van when i need them.
