Leaded Glass Entry

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

I would appreciate any input on cleaning this entryway. I have a horrible concept of time so I’m not sure how much time I should budget for it. At first I thought an hour, and my husband thought two hours. I’m planning on using a damp microfiber to clean each diamond and a dry one to buff after. The diamonds are about 5 inches by 3 inches. Sorry the picture isn’t great…we didn’t get to take any pics when we were there, so this is off of Google Maps. So it’s the 2 doors, 2 windows on the sides and 3 above. Thanks!!

Hey Erica,

I had a job this summer with nothing but leaded windows from like 1912. I watched this video:

He does it really fast, almost like it’s just a normal window. The homeowner said that the last window cleaner did it like that too and she said they turned great. I ended up not doing it that way, but instead cleaned each individual piece of glass using a foaming glass cleaner, a white scrub pad, and huck towels. The homeowner was blown away and said she didn’t even think it was possible for them look so good. Several visitors literally thought the glass was missing!

I imagine your husband is about right… If you do it the slow way like that, it proly would take at least two hours.

I run into these a lot… sprayway works great buffing with a linen pillow case .You can also use just clear water Dry and buff .I cant imagine it taking you longer then a couple of hours .

I use Sprayway, scrub pad, then towel them mostly dry, and a 2nd towel to detail the edges. (The ones I do get hit by sun in the afternoon). They look awesome when finished!

Use the least amount of liquid/moisture you can. These are prone to leaking, so too much and you’ll start to get drips on the opposite side you just cleaned.
