Leading edge streak and clips pushing rubber out?

While practicing my technique yesterday I noticed that whenever my leading edge overlaps a dry spot I get a single thin line trailing from the rubber edge. I did notice a tiny piece of rubber shaving on the edge which could cause it, but I’m pretty sure both edges do it.

My guess is the rubber is rounded from hitting those stupid edges, not to mention there are split marks like it wants to be ripped in half longways

Another thing I’ve noticed is that my rubber is slightly U shaped while in channel, the rubber/channel are straight looking down the side edge, but when looking top down the ends start slowly taper farther out than the middle. Think of a deck board crown, where the opposite side goes on the glass.

Aldreth, are you fanning or straight pulling?

Have you tried changing the rubber or at least flipping it? Play around with the tension. Maybe the rubber is even a little too long.

Attempting to fan, I’ll try flipping rubber and see how it goes

Sounds like the rubber is either too tight or not tight enough in the channel. Find the middle ground and the problem should go away.

Also sounds like you may want to apply a little more pressure on the pull. Practicing applying different pressures might help there.

You can also alleviate all the tension issues by using only one clip in the channel. The rubber will put itself where it needs to be.

Cool idea. So simple and yet I don’t think I woulda ever thought of that!
