Costco will have this 17’ ladder on sale 10/13-11/6 – $180 less $50 = $130.
Is that a type 1A? Awesome deal if so. I got a 17’ from Sam’s Club for $179 awhile back and I thought that was unbeatable.
Yep – Type IA.
According to little giant website the megalite 17m is a type 1A.
The similar Costco brand ladder is only $99 here in Canada. What’s the difference btwn the Little Giant and costco brand ladder? (and no this isn’t a math question)
Not sure about the Costco brand, but I made the mistake of buying a Gorilla once. Never again.
What was the issue?
BTW, I have a total of 4 Werner LG knock-offs (17,17,13,22) plus the MegaLite.
why so many? I hate those ladders… why not get a real extension ladder?
I used the 2 17-footers as a scaffold many times, both on the job and painting at home (2-story living room, for example.)
I purchased the 22-footers years ago for a CCU picture window above an residential entrance.
All were pretty inexpensive ($59-109.)
I have the following extension ladders: 16,24,28,40.
I have a 4X6 vee-groove sectional set.
Wow Larry that’s alot of ladders. I thought I had too many. 2-4’ step, 1-6’ 1-8’ 1-24’ extension 1- 30’ extension… I was never crazy about those little giant ladders. They don’t go high enough. But to each their own. If it works for you, rock on brother
I have tried a lot of the knock offs over the years. Gorilla, Cosco (not Costco) and Werner. I either gave the other brands away or tossed them. The little giant really is the best bet. They use a better grade of aluminum so many times they are lighter than the knockoffs. I currently use the Classic 17ft almost daily. Especially for one story gutter cleaning. The little giant will work with a ladder max standoff while some of the knockoffs will not. It’ s a heavy set up, but I don’t worry about it breaking in the center or anywhere else. I bought the little giant version that is 5 lbs lighter for an employee in the future. I can’t use it. The rungs are thinner and I notice that my foot has less stability and it drives me crazy. I am just so used to the Classic.
Good looking out Larry! Now that I’m leaning more towards an old geezer than a young stud I really like how lightweight those ladders are compared to my original 22 ft little giant. I’m gonna pick another one up. And like others have said, there is nothing like the original little giant. All the others are inferior quality. I’ve tried them all. My original 22 ft. little giant is 14 years old and is still as stable, sturdy and dependable as the day I bought it. And considering it gets used almost daily the ROI makes it the least expensive ladder I have ever owned. In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a fan.
I have had an LG break on me one time. The little butterfly locking mechanism on the inside, on top, opposite of the red buttons you push to open the a frame.
I still trust them, and use one almost everyday.
I just read on the LadderMax website that they now make them to fit the articulating ladders like The Little Giant.
Loud Lucky Larry Loves Ladders
Should we then address Larry as 5L
Thanks for the advice, Im on that one
I have the 1a revolution xe 22 footer and I love it! At times i thought its too heavy but after trying some regular werner extension ladders, its not a big deal you gotta love how compact these get too. No balancing acts. You guys know of any leg levelers that fit LG besides LG brand?
I just bought the Type 1A Classic - Model 26
Its huge!!! I will be using it Monday. I think it has a place
With a 32, 24, 16, 8 ft step and now this I am pretty covered for now. But like everything else Im sure I will buying more.lol I really want a tow behind lift.
I really want an AWP – they fit in a pickup bed!
