So I recently moved to Phoenix from Fort Worth Texas. I am now working on 1 story residential homes. My questions are. .
What’s a good squeegee for fanning? My boss prefers i use an 18" squeegee. Glass obviously dries quickly… Brings me to my next question; what mop do you suggest for residential homes?
My last question is about screens. Should I use a brush before I spray them to get the dirt off… Or just spray, then soap, tgen rinse?
Any help would be great.

I use a 14", 10", and 6" for typical homes. I run brass ettore with a pro+ handle and ledge Eze. The 6" is in a separate holster with it’s own brass handle. I cut channels if there are uniform colonials/French panes.
My sleeve used to be a microtiger until it went flat. Now I use a golden glove due to their water retention qualities. I wet wool most panes.
I generally dry-brush and mop screens, then smack them around a bit before wiping up the extra water. Wipe the frame, and pop it back in. If they’re not too bad, I skip the dry brush and mop them. If it’s ladder work, I tie a alligator clip thing to a bight of accessory cord and girth hitch it to one of the upper rungs so I can clean the window and screen without coming down. This is all contingent on how dirty the screen is.
Thanks for the info for the screens. Yeah. . he purchases equipment but asked if I needed different tools… That he would allow me to switch out to something that I liked.

I use 18" & 12 on residential. Those 2 cover 90% of my homes. Ettore SS channels + ettore rubber. Or whatever the boss is willing to supply you with.
Mop: microtiger. You’ll need it in AZ - baked on dirt doesn’t come off with anything else.
Screens - dry brush them and walk away. OR get full on in with screen washing. You can’t half step it in the Southwest. If the boss doesn’t have a screen washer, you can use your mop to soap up the screens (soap them up really good) and then use a microfiber to wipe them down. Give the screen a little tap to drop most of the water and wipe.
But if you don’t soak them up you’ll be better off just dry brushing them.
I know this was a serious question but Skipper said it best. Everyone has their preference. Take a 14", 16", 18" and just figure out which one just feels right. I get on with the 16" myself for residential.

I feel the most comfortable with the 14" except for the large winfiws that are 5x8 feet… Thats when an 18 comes into play. My boss is funny because he uses his traditional unger handle and s channel. I use moerman or sorbo for straight pulls. He calls my squeegees fisher price. He wont try my squeegees out. Lol He only wants me use the fanning method on windows. He laughs at my technique but really appreciates that I’m wanting to learn his style of fanning which is insane but i guess that’s what 35 Year’s of experience gets you.

Why wouldn’t you fan windows? That’s the most effective way to clean glass almost every time.
I do straight pulls for route work, on residential work I can fan a window faster than straight pulls with better results and less detailing. That’s coming from only 8 years of experience.
Mike… You are so right!!! I’m learning a little every day and getting a little faster as well. Just the very small windows are what i have trouble with. But im working on it.
