I see justin time here and there and it just makes me laugh. No offense to him as I have never actually met the guy and not one for trash talking, but I sure have picked up manyyyy customers from ex justin time users. I’ve heard nothing but complaints about that company and it’s amazing to me that after all these years he’s still in business.
Anyways, I’ve been seeing this right brothers guy lately (in ads, anyways), same lowball prices. As Bruce said, it sets the ‘standard’ pricing for window cleaning, or at least what is the expected price from the customers standpoint. Absurd nonetheless, I just chuckle. Had a lady call me today, 4000 square foot home, and after I told her the price she said she was looking to spend HALF of that. Thanks for the inquiry, we’ll see ya later!
Is it just me or was there a hammer in his tool pouch!? What an interesting way to earn beer money. “Hey San Diego! Call me! For $17 I will come over, set up a scaffold and bust out my windex and a squeegee. Better hurry, only six days left on this deal!”
Oh my! I am in disbelief and shock at how people can give themselves away like charity out there in so cal Brian.
Sorry to hear that Severn. That is a bummer…
But it will come back some way some how.
Today I gained a new customer as the “cheap’o” was literally cleaning the windows outside an audio shop. Inside the owner said he kept meaning to fire them and hire me. (no pushing on my side by the way)
Asked my how much, my price 3x the guy outside leaving dirty water all over the glass. You know he told me three times before I left to call him next week so we could get that started!?
Yep, bud… in another job it’ll be “his” loss and ‘YOUR’ gain!
The thing that looks really tough for him is that he goes to the trouble of setting up the scaffold, and he STILL isn’t even high enough to clean that window. Poor guy.
Hahahahaha!!! Wow. You know what? It make me want to hire the guy for like 20 of my residential jobs. Have him show up to go do the first 10 windows (all second story of course), pay him his $8.50 and then give him the address to the next house and tell him I’ll meet him there. He doesn’t get paid unless my customer is happy. I could keep him busy for days doing that. Work his butt to the bone for peanuts. Take him off the market, use him, abuse him, and lose him. If he thinks that little of himself and his service why should I think anymore of him?
There is a guy here in DFW area that is charging $50 for any home. He hires anyone, tells them that they can make a killing, makes them buy the equipment, and pays them $20 to do the jobs… I have heard numerous stories of guys coming out and then leaving 2 windows into the job.
