Has anyone found a low cost rubber that works well?
Nope… use Ettorre or IPC eagle pulex
Nope… use Ettorre
The Ettore has durability that the low cost rubber doesn’t . In the end by spending more up front you actually save money in the long run.

i wonder if Quickie(new jersey ) are still making the rubber with the double blade edge //
To go with your dish soap?
Wagtail - it comes in 3 meter rolls and is cheaper and as far as am concerned better than any of the others. Note I do live in a fairly hot country so not sure how it would perform in the cold.
PS Wagtail also do a window cleaning solution which I like
Feel free to look for and use the most expensive thing you can find.
I always look for the lowest cost thing if it works well.
GG4 may be good in some situations, but in general I don’t think it makes a lot of difference with commercial work. It may be better for residential.
To some degree it is all a matter of taste.
That has been my experience also. The cost of rubber is getting up there though. Check the price of 22". It would be nice if there was another brand.
I figure I can clean about $300 worth of windows with one 36 inch Ettore rubber before I like to change it. I cut it into 3 pieces for my 3 squeegees. It costs me about $4.50 a day. So I’m thinking. Should I switch to an inferior brand of rubber to save maybe $2.00 tops on $300 worth of production? It sounds penny wise and pound foolish to me.
A good reason that there isn’t another brand out there is because there are already high quality rubbers and less expensive rubbers. Someone would have to be able to consistently do both to gain a reasonable market share and make it worth their while. That’s a tall order.
So true!!! I pay more for Ettore rubber and I get more work done per blade which equals more profit per blade.
I don’t switch out rubbers each day because I would be cancelling out the advantage of using a premium blade. I use them until I see and/or feel that they are not performing well with good results.
I hate that time when a blade is starting to go. I find it frustrating when a blade starts to go and I’m in the zone cleaning glass. I have to decide if I should clean a few more windows and risk streaking the job or drop what I’m doing and make a special trip all the way back to the truck for a fresh blade. Time is money too and one 36 inch rubber blade equals 4 minutes. I could waste way more than 4 minutes trying to squeeze a few more panes of glass out of an old blade. Going back to the truck alone will take more than 4 minutes. That’s why I like to change them out every morning. JMO
Do you only use one side per day then chunk 'em or do you flip & use the other side?
I flip the blades after lunch. Fresh blades go in the channel with the Ettore logo in view. Flipped blades go in logo side out of view.
If you flip the blades after lunch, what is all this stuff about Ettore lasting longer. Do Ettore’s last until dinner time?
I find some thing written here to be hard to believe.
Using a fresh blade each day and flipping at lunchtime would be wasting good blades for me. They just don’t wear out that quickly. I can get two or three days out of a single blade.
Mdefiel has already explained his reasons for discarding a blade after only one day of use. If he’s happy with that routine then I have to respect that.
But Ettore is hands down the most durable rubber so I would think that most of us get more than one work day out of two sides of a premium grade of rubber like Ettore.
If I have two or three full houses scheduled for a day I may flip the blade at the end of that day. Otherwise I get a few days out of a rubber. I use Ettore because it’s the best quality rubber out there hands down.
Why not simply keep a spare on you, as I do in my Unger ErgoTec Pouch?
