It’s happening right now…
If you look outside right now, that’s not a typical Crescent Moon.
It’s about to get covered by our (Earth) shadow.
It was heavy clouds, here…
But cleared up just in time.
Either way, have a nice night y’all.

Yeah, I was just out there, pretty cool. Supposed to last for another hour or so I think.
Clouds are thick here. Got to see it start but not much after that

The way I explain eclipses to those not inclined to general solar science is that a solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the earth and the sun. A lunar eclipse is when the sun passes between the earth and the moon.
Mainly because I like to screw with people.
Don’t forget to explain that since the Earth is at the center of the universe…
The sun moves in front of the moon every 364 1/3 days.
That’s why they call it a year… Y’Ere? Dat dere sun’s a coming 'round again.
And the flatness of our planet keeps the stars in place.
If the Earth was round, Gravity would send them scattered outward throughout the Snickers Galaxy.
“That’s some heavy shit, man…”
I tried watching it… It got super cloudy just a couple of minutes before it happened

I watched it last night with my scope. I could plainly see the very slight curve of the shadow of the Earth compared to the much greater curve of the moon. The full shadow of the Earth of course is round. And is much larger than the moon as the Earth is larger than the moon. This is also why the moon is fully occluded for some time before it begins to brighten up again. If I had a much better scope I am guessing I would have been able to see the Earths shadow slowly move across the moon. One mountain at a time. Neat stuff.

Just in case you missed it.
Jared that is WAY WAY WAY cool! Where did you get it?
