Ok, that was “window-cleaner speak.” Actually, it was $100 in five minutes…still pretty sweet. A customer of mine who’s moving had a gutter overflowing and asked if i could look at it. I laddered up, removed a simple blockage and was already locking up my ladder by the time he showed up in his driveway. I had no intention of charging him, but he was so appreciative that he absolutely insisted on giving me $100. I tried turning it down, but in the end accepted.
That’s awesome. Come to think of it, I think a lot of people throw their frugality out the window when they’re moving. I can’t remember ever having a move out window cleaning quote get turned down.
Oh I did…cause today I also had a sunroom with 43-year-old jalousie windows, one of which broke from the slightest amount of pressure, a gutter with plants growing out of it that took 2 hours, and then an unexpected request for another gutter with no less than 10 hidden wasps nests, one of which exploded with wasps. And speaking of explosions, the downspout was clogged and when I checked it out, the whole thing exploded in my face. All in all, I removed about 200 lbs of debris from the room and gutters! Did I mention that there were thunderstorms today? Yeah, pretty challenging ten-hour day, so that extra $100 was a really nice - if not in the grand scheme of things, deserved - bonus.
