So we’ve had a lot of customers ask us to put them on a maintenance plan. I think I’ve come up with something that can work.
Quarterly windows, for example:
If a regular cleaning is $200 and the person wishes to have it done 4 times a year, we can knock 25% off each cleaning (paying $150 each). But just to make sure they don’t rip us off and get the lowest price possible first then run (sometimes known as a “first-time customer discount”) they’ll pay like you would for insurance - a lot up front and a little in the end.
1st clean: $200
2nd clean: $175
3rd clean: $175
4th clean: $50 - and they can’t believe how little they’ve just paid to get their house cleaned!
And it starts all over the next year. No contracts required.
if you offer it only to your current repeat customers that only clean once or twice a year, it could be good. you could shoot yourself in the foot for new customers that want it done quarterly. i think its best to try to generate more income from current customers.
lol. yeah. what i mean is that i would target only customers that have had service done once or twice a year, over the course of a few years. just to try to generate more from them
I’ve seen that each customer gets turned on by different things. You have your once every 2 years, every 1 years, and every time the bird hits the window… Some love coupons, some love referral incentives, some just want you to come out and get-it-done.
We did our maintenance cleans today, and were talking about how easy they are. I wouldn’t worry too much about first time walk aways, we’ve only had a couple of non-renewals after they completed the first year (which were almost all second homeowners that weren’t spending much time up here), never any walk aways after the first reduced price. We only do exteriors as a maintenance clean, and schedule about 6-8 weeks apart (our scheduling determines when) then we email the bill. Our price scale runs: 10.50 per window int/ext then 4.75 for ext maintenance clean (versus 6.75 normal ext clean). Our discount is about 30%, but the time is so much faster it more than makes up for it. All markets are different, but I would probably just give them the discount up front (and build trust with them). As for new customers multiple cleans, some people might want quarterly cleanings no matter what, but I would open the maintenance cleans to all, the more maintenance cleans you can get, the easier your life becomes. I think the overall percentage of customers that want to pay for quarterly or more cleans is really small, so do what you can to entice them, and also to thank them.
