I let it roll the entire time. If I mess up I pause and start over and edit that part out.
That was a good little commercial.
Me and Uncle Phil usually just come up with some funny stuff and record. Most of which is never seen because when we get together most our stuff is not appropriate:p or unnecessary
1 - Jazz DV165
2 - I send the video to Chris and he puts it up because my editing software is junk
3 - Discuss what I want to say w/ Mrs Squeegee first and then shoot from the hip
4 - Sometimes as many a 3 takes. Most times it’s good to go on one but sometimes I get tongue tied.
[QUOTE=wayneshockey;33670]In my attempt to make a simple Youtube video it took over 5 hours.
My hat is off to Mark, Tony, Mr. Sanchez, Uncle Phil, Alex, Chris and The Salesman.
You all do a GREAT job and make it look so easy.
I always look forward to your videos.
Could you answer a few questions to help me out?
What kind of camera do you use?
What video editing program do you use?
Do you write a script or outline?
How many “takes” does it take to get it right?
My answers:
Canon SD880 IS camera.
Memories on TV Pro video editing program.
Outlined what I wanted to say.
24 Takes.
Here’s my Youtube video with a few bloopers at the beginning.
Hi Wayne. I’ll leave it to the experienced youtube directors to give you some suggestions.
I found your video good, after your first take you spoke with good volume, a lot of enthusiasm and a nice tone. I liked watching all the work you did to make a good video.
A few suggestions: your eyes were looking above us, so lower your head so your looking at us in the eyes. And utilize your demo, you could have utilized the awning you were cleaning to show half of the awning filthy and the other half very clean. You could have utilized that as a powerful selling tool.
You know what’s funny. Until now I thought you were a Gretsky fan, or a hockey fan. I didn’t realize that was your name.
1.JVC GR-D850U
2. Apple iMovie
3. No written script (I’ll explain later)
4. Usually 3rd or 4th take. (have had more on some occasions)
Great video there Wayne.
I don’t write out a script for myself. Usually I will run some thoughts through my head for a day or two about what I want to get across in the video. On shooting day I try to get that message across in as few words as possible. (I know I still go on and on though, LOL)
Here’s some tips for ya if you do write your scripts.
[LIST]
[]Write out quickly what you want to say and read it out loud.
[]Next, re-write the same thing shortening it and simplifying it.
[]Write it out a third time dropping any words or phrases that seem to trip you up and substitute it with a word(s)/phrase that rolls off your tongue better.
[]And after all that editing, try to keep it sounding natural.
