Marina windows

Has anyone tried, or presently offer, window cleaning services of Yachts and similar sized boats at marinas and resorts?

Hey Garry,

Before I became a window cleaner, I lived in Bradenton for 10 years before moving to California.

From what I’ve heard, there’s much work at marinas on yachts.

Obviously they’re a higher income clientele so they can afford it.

If you’re a skilled tradesman and not a person who gets seasick you could do quite well and because of the elements, it’s likely a repeat maintenance service.

Not sure what the competition looks like.

Sounds like a hard water nightmare.

But I’m very interested in this. I know lots of people in some nice marinas. Could probably do great walking the docks like you would with storefront

An easy clean hydrophobe that will last a long time would be great. I have a Marina I do every year in the Spring. Have a great relationship with the owners. This would be a great opportunity. I will be testing Enduroshield this week.

That client base is very different from what most of us deal with on a daily basis.

I would imagine the client base to be a different animal. Do you know if they expect or require cleaning of the exterior?

I like to provide my customers with the best possible value of service. Enduroshield boasts a 90% reduction in the amount of cleaning needed. Not sure I would like to endorse a 90% reduction in the amount of work I need to make a living.

Hey Henry,
After looking through the Enduroshield website it looks to be a worthy product for customer value on those high exposure jobs that you only tend to do once or twice a year. Let us know how your testing goes this week. I’m sure it demands a premium charge for application.

I have been told the cost of the product is fifty cents per square foot. Most people are charging around three bux per square foot to apply. So your profit not using an employee would be about 2.50 per square foot. And my past experience to apply a treatment like Aquapel or the Invisible Shield is one to two minutes per square foot. Any mineral deposits that had to be removed first should be priced separate. Maintenance cleaning should also be priced separately.

I have to price a mirror cleaning job at a Yoga Studio later today. I will be following my own advice. That is to separate treatment, restoration, and maintenance cleaning. If she wants an “easy clean” hydrophobic treatment on the mirrors that will last ten years;…then I will price it at 3 bux a square foot. If she just wants them cleaned routinely, I will give her a maintenance price. There will be no potential “after effect filming” down the road because these mirrors are totally inside. Both surfaces front and back are the same temperature year round. Gotta luv inside work! But I do deplore Malls!! Never will I go back to that insanity. Please excuse the rant.

If this question was directed to me, Nico has told me in the past that his company does inside and out of the Yacht glass on a maintenance deal.
They do a lot of them.

Sorry, by exterior I meant a “boat wash” beyond just the windows. Also I see Enduroshield has a stainless steel cleaner and sealer which would be another option for “marine work.”

They do not do any other maintenance on the yachts beside the windows.
