Me and my wife starting out on our own

Me and my wife are starting our business. We have cards and flyers being made. We will be starting to go around our town and neighboring towns and start passing them out and talking to potential customers about us and what we are offering. We’re going to be cleaning windows, pressure washing from the roof to the driveways, gutter cleaning, window screen cleaning, and restoration windows that have calcium build up on them. I have 15 years experience high rise window cleaning and all the stuff we’re offering. My company I’ve worked for is fading out due to the owner not taking care of his business he’s built for 35 years and has ALOT of buildings. And could have made the company a giant. But he’s to busy with other projects that never work out. So I’m going off on my own before it’s over. I will be working for him until it does, but getting side work and and my wife will be doing the leg work and business side on her days off. We want to build it up good enough to leave both our jobs. So wish us luck and any advice would help. Thanks

Good luck! This is a great business.

Thanks

Do you need help getting set up or do you have what you need?

I’m happy to help if you need it

As a WC and recently PW, I will say both combined can be really harrowing and overload your mental state. My PW setup alone has cost me around $8000 so far and it’s not a very big trailer.

Try not to take on too much at once.

Hey Michael, good luck man.

I have about the same experience as you, but not on high rise. I am in the same boat, looking to go off on my own as well-- all while still being with current company. I’m not in the family so I do not expect any business coming my way so I have to plan for my own future, like yourself.

If anything man, you have a heads up because you already have income coming in. You can buy what you need over a period of time, and not worry because of your current job paying for most of it. That is a benefit MANY people don’t have Michael, use it to your advantage!

Good luck to you and your wife, you already know the basics-- you are a pro after 15 years. It’s all just glass once you’ve been in a high-rise I’m sure!!!

Offer to buy the business from him or to give you 50% to run it and he can he can focus on his other projects.

Sometimes you just have to go for it ! If you have a good plan and execute it,it should work out.You have to be very driven and don’t stop for a second. The window cleaning grind. Can the citys you want to operate in support the income you want to make? what is the populations of these cities? How many other window cleaners are in the area? There are so many different variables you have to think about. It will help you out working for the company you are now,to help you keep you afloat when just starting out.If you are really hustling, you can accomplish a lot more than you think in a much shorter time than you think.Balls to the wall they say.Just have a good vision and know what direction you are going.you may be biting off more than you can chew offering all these things at once.If you think you can handle it go for it.A lot to think about.I am taking the leap and doing a lot more residential.I am mainly commercial, but just got the bid on a 13,481 sq foot house $2,000,000.I came in at $1500 inside and out.I have been pushing high end homes this summer.Give me a call if you have any? 1-570-867-1061.I have been doing this for 18 years.Good luck
