I ran across an old school DI setup, the kind with 2 tanks (one Anion and the other Cation). I was thinking maybe I can use just one tank and put mixed bed resin in it. Does anyone have experience with this? Will this work? Thanks in advance for the help.
Yes as long as you can refill the tanks u can use mixed bed resin.
What size tanks are they?
Approximately 41" high and 10" wide. How would I know if it is refillable?
You can remove the heads. That’s how ya know.
I found four DI tanks but I had a hard time at getting the heads off. I destroyed a head getting it off but just ordered another.
If ya are having problems opening take the tank to a culligan store. They should loosen the head for next to nothing
Ok, thanks for the information. I’m going to give it a try. I use my hydrotube almost every day, but I think it will be good to keep these around for the future.
Yea you should be able to carefully screw the top right of and refill with mixed bed. If you look at our resin in the store, there is a video that shows how to refill the resin yourself.
Ok, I checked the video and it was very helpful. I was able to unscrew one with no problem, but the second one seems stuck. I was able to unscrew the top, but its seems like the tube that goes to the bottom of the tank is being held down. In other words, it will turn, but I can’t lift it out. I’ll play with it later this afternoon when I’m done with work.

Put some water into the tank and work it up and down.
The water should help loosen the resin
might have a lower basket on the end of the tube thats just stuck in sludge
