Mobile billboard

Anyone tried this or considered trying? You could park it in key areas of town at key times. You could even build one in the back of a pick up Truck.

Yes.

They are illegal in most cities

I’m not sure if they are illegal here. They have a business here that drives around with a billboard that changes adds. You can purchase an add to be displayed. Pretty much the same thing. It surprise me that they would be illegal when you can put an add on the side of a bus or semi and you can drive around with a wall on your trailer why can’t you put the two together? Makes no sense. It’s a great idea.

Seems like a good cross wind would turn them into a sail. Doesn’t have the same mass as a bus or truck.

At any rate, billboards in general are not allowed in VT- so not really something I’ll be looking into.

There was a window cleaner that posted here or on FB awhile ago who had built a small billboard onto the side of his minivan. I personally thought it was hideous, but apparently it pulled in a lot of work for him.

There are lots of rules in Austin. You can have one one your truck or trailer for you own business. But you can’t sell add space on it.

Billboards are not allowed in Alaska either.

Worse case senerio you would think this would be legal (any where) as long as you are able to work out of the same truck. Kinda of the same concept as a vehicle wrap.

And as @Infinity said I’ve have seen some that were below par for my taste!

Absolutely. If not done classy I wouldn’t do it at all.

The one that is in the picture is not allow in Austin if it’s sole purpose is for advertising. It is considered visual pollution and adds to the traffic.

My thinking would not be to drive it around but rather drive to a key area and park it where it can be seen by many passers by. Would that be illegal? You could cover it up while driving to and from the key location.

It could be towed by order of the property/store. If it was a sign build on the back of your truck you would be fine. Most people do around here is put graphics on a box truck and put the in different parking lots.
All I know is that those trailer billboards are not a allowed. Look up you local sign regulations.
