Moerman Excelerator Newbie Question

Hello, I’ve had my squeegee for about a month. Honestly I’ve watched Luke the Window cleaners videos very informative. For some reason my rubber(I have the Liquidator 2.0) keeps sliding one way or another everytime i’m cleaning a window. Are there any tips you guys can give me? Should I use a different channel on it? I want to master this tool I get the technique just wish I could learn to work my squeegee better

As Bubble Guy said paper clips wedged in really works wonders. Here is a video to help you to know where to put the paper clip pieces to hold the rubber. I did this with mine and it has made all the difference in the world. I’m guessing you are using the Excelerator Handle so that usually also holds the rubber in the center also.

It may be the rubber is staying put and the channel is sliding through your handle jaws. Try a small piece of duct tape wrapped around the back of your channel and see if that solves the issue.

…Duct tape, paper clips, glue this, sandpaper that…jeez can’t these manufacturers make shit that actually works right out of the box?

You forgot chewing gum. It really helps the excelerator function so smoothly.

I’m sure they could, but it makes better financial sense to let the consumers do the beta testing.

…I’m gonna start beta testing my customers…Do a half-assed job
and let them finish it and then tell them how if I did a good job
then it would cost them a lot more…

Put a “dink” in the channel,I had the idea from my Wagtail’s,works a treat :+1:t2:

I appreciate you guys replying. This moerman excelerator should have came user ready right out the box. I guess ill just find something better for pole work

Aw, come on. The fun is in tinkering with it and getting it how you like it. Sure, your Ford Mustang comes “ready” out of the box, but the fun is in modifying it and tinkering with it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Actually unless you’re going to do straight pulls you won’t find anything better for pole work. The issue with the rubber retention is an ongoing battle of …yes the clip firming is needed versus the tighter clip will fix that. The 100% users of the Liquidator channels find that the paper clip/zip tie/Unger clip (or whatever shim segment you find easiest) works perfectly. So if the manufacturer doesn’t feel the need to address it, then for a very simple and minor tweak I, and others, don’t see a problem. As for the second issue of the handle sliding? This only happens with me on an 18" with Fliq if I’m being heavy handed. For that channel only I put a little bit of duct tape on the centre of the channel so that the handle has just a touch of ‘bite’. It’s now rock solid. If it’s happening on 14" and 10" the you are either smacking the ends of the channel against the frames or exerting far too much pressure when using. This tool is a precision tool and as such responds best to a light and accurate touch using plenty of slip.

Nooooooo use it anywaaaaaaaayyyy!!! I don’t even use the mods and i love the excelerator. Not for everything, but for many situations it’s fantastic. It takes a few hours to get the hang of it though. At first i couldn’t stand it.

And, honestly, is slapping a piece of tape on the channel and/or slipping in a zip tie on the ends really that hard? As a business owner I’m sure it’s nothing. And it costs virtually nothing whereas buying another tool will.

Yes, yes… In principle stuff should work perfectly right out of the box. The reality is it doesn’t and so we must work with that reality. Window cleaners are known for their ingenuity. I say make it work and move on! (And then rush to buy the next promising product that also won’t be perfect! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)

Finding the Moerman rubber is burning out fairly quickly, and using the paper-clip solution is a pain (literally it pricks my fingers pushing in) when wanting to change rubbers in a hurry. Have you tried Unger end clips Eric? Trad Man say’s he’s using them, but I can’t find any here in Christchurch, yet at least. Would be keen to give them a try.

there are those who think that it works great out of the box and i hear that if you use moermans own rubber you don’t need the paperclips and i personally think the rubber comes out of place by dropping tje channel into the boab too hard thus shifting the channel while the rubber stays put… so a lot of these issues are that we’re not using the tool as it was created.

Yes. Moerman soft wears out quickly in NZ I feel. In ChCh I’d say it would be even worse. A lot of post construction stuff, yes? I managed to score one box of Unger green clips from our supplier in Dunedin. I slice them down the centre. One clip does both ends. And yes, I find they’re still beneficial on Moermans own rubber as well. Use small pieces of zip tie. Easier on the fingers.
