Got a call from a Subway to give an estimate this weekend. No problem. My concern is I’ve been there plenty and the windows fog with moisture like crazy. U can see.all their swirls from cleaning it with.windex and a rag. It looks horrible no wonder he called lol. My only question is can I do anything to stop them from steaming like that? Only in the winter I think they just have a ventilation problem
If there is enough air movement it should help. If the rh is too high, there isn’t too much you can do. Their air conditioning system will act as a dehumidifier.
Rubbing alcohol/isopropanol will stop them misting up as much.
How much are you adding per gal?
That doesn’t stop it in the future does it?
Good question, I really don’t think anythings going to stop it. Guess ill find out. I think they just need to install ceiling fans to keep the air moving around. Its probably going to fog back up as soon as I’m done. I just won’t leave swirly streaks like they currently are lol. Its still going to look 100% better
This is a service I have been wanting to get in to. The Glass Guru franchise here in town offers that solution. They use a 1/8 glass bit on the dremel tool. Drill a hole in one top corner and one in the opposite bottom corner. The inside of the glass is cleaned with de-natural alcohol or methanol. It is sold at home depot for $15 a gallon. Silicone ventilators are placed over the holes to keep the air in circulation between the glass.
The Glass Guru advertises half the cost of replacement for this type of service.
Are you still using a bucket? In a bottle, I’d add a 10th, in a bucket maybe a lot more. You’ll find the alcohol will resist misting more than soap would. When you are cleaning freezer doors - this is one time when those generic sprays have the upper hand over soap & water.
Hardly ever use a bucket but I mix my solutions in gallon jugs, then pour into bottles.
was in a Subway today and i noticed the main windows had above them 2" deep glass air vents . i suppose you could crank them slightly open would only take a second
Different type of moisture problem, Ben.
Make sure to do a lot of research on this service before you dump any money into it- I’ve read of several people on this forum who didn’t do nearly as well with it as hoped. I was really excited about getting into it, as well, before I read their stories.
