I recieved my WFP starter kit from WCR and after spending some time getting the right connections it is up and running. ( Thanks Alex and Chris for helping me with all the questions and emails Iām sure you thought I was crazy)
I can honestly say I love it. Very quick. Now if I could find a better way to take the screens off, clean them, and re install them since that seems to be the majority of my time.
Screens⦠I talk most of my customers into removing the screens permanently. If they do not open the window for air then there is no reason to have a screen. Iām in TX so very few people open their windows. Some customers leave a few in on windows that they do open, usually on the first floor. I tell them it will save them a little $ because they wonāt be charged to clean screens that are just sitting there dry-rotting. I save time not having to break out a ladder to get to the second story screens to clean & reinstall. I also let them know it keeps the window cleaner because the screen is holding in dirt & dead bugs. With no screen the rain is able to get in there and wash it away. Most agree, and any cleanings after that are much easier. And at my age thats what its all about.
Most people here in Az seem to get them because of the costs for electricity. They think it helps out enough to keep them on. I have them on my house and maybe its mental, or just the good feeling that I have them on, but I think it helps my electric bill from getting to high. Especially houses that are east west facing here lots of heat coming into the home.
On second thought I have not been really charging extra for removing sunscreens and having to reinstal them. I might have to incorporate that into my pricing. Thanks Wow!
Iām talking about regular insect screens, not solars. As much as I would like to talk customers out of solar screens, I would be wasting my breath. I have had customers ask what is best, tint or solars, I tell them good quality tint simply because solars hold in dirt, cost $3+ additional to remove, clean & reinstall. Which is best from a financial point, as far as purchacing and money saved on electric, I have no clue.
12+ years of carrying & climbing ladders kinda takes it toll. I was only giving myself a few more years, Now with a wfp, who knows. Itās helped tremendously.
Never thought of doing that! Will it get the screen clean enough? And are you talking about sunscreens or bug screens? Sunscreens are a pane in the A$$!
Sorry to disappoint you⦠Been there, done that⦠Pure water alone is NOT enough for the sunscreens here in the desert⦠let alone the insect screens.
go to window,
open window,
remove screen,
clean tracts,
clean inside glass,
go outside,
wash screens,
wfp outside,
put upper screens back from inside,
put lowers on from outside if possible.
I like that method for bug screens. Here in Az I would say that out of 10 houses I clean 6 or 7 have āsolar screensā or sunscreens" on them. The way they are put on the window you can only take off from out side. Obviously screens on ground level not to bad but second story sunscreens have to use ladder and if they are of any size itās a pain. Especially if there is some wind going, catches the wind like a sail and bye bye screen!
