I bought my first Tucker pole off eBay at $130 shipped.
25ft dual hose with soap dispenser, does that price sounds right ?
Being this my first pole of that kind, and it being much different to the rest of the poles, what kind of tips and advice could you give me ?
Is the soap dispenser necessary or just a waste of time ? Seems like an alien candy jar and is kinda heavy too, and the hose is so rigid and long.
I’m planning on having it as a backup just in case, and for “training” purposes, since once you work with that one for a while and move to a fiberglass model you’ll be flying (I also own a 17ft Xtel)
The price sounds good depending on condition I guess. I dont think you will ever use the soap dispenser, no need. I have a 45 tucker with dual hose and I have never had the need to use the soap with it.
Ive used the 20’ and 45’ both dual hose but never use the soap adapter. The 20’ is perfect for awning/sign or 2nd story windows. One thing to keep in mind with the tucker is to not over extend. Make sure you use the little peep hole system or you will end up with a bent section. Tucker isnt the lightest or the coolest pole out there but for the price in my opinion it is and awesome investment.
The only problem I have had with the Tucker is some of the metal slits breaking and having to buy a new section sooner or later.
I’m going to post a picture of the brush that came with it, since it doesn’t make sense to me. It has bristles, a single line all around the perimeter if the brush head and is “hollow” in the center, but it shows some marks like leftover adhesive or something like that.
I thought it might be the one with foam in the center and the foam block is missing, but again, I never owned a Tucker before so maybe some of you might be able to help me there.
What about the WFP video series ? no candidates yet ??
I bought 2 45’ tuckers for $1300 ($650 each) about 3-4 years ago. Great Poles, but with all the price jumps they better watch out for decrease in market share as other poles are giving more bang for the buck these days.
We’ve used them for about 20 a week since we got them.
The holes they are referring to are about 3 inches from the top of each section, and they are to show you when the section inside it, is extended too far. Really easy, follow that and there will never be a problem.
As far as the tabs breaking off, and they do from time to time, I just take a hacksaw and cut off all the remaining tabs and clean up the edge. Then I cut new tabs. You could drill a new hole I guess but after you use them for awhile you’ll just feel when it’s properly extended.
Ohh and the Soap Dispenser is a joke, I have 2 that have never been used for sale if you want em
I’ve seen that, and you’re right. It’s the brush with the foam block, but the foam is missing.
I too got a deal on a Tucker…35 footer, dual hose, 4 canisters, 3 brushes, 7 brass squeegee channels with rubbers, all in a bucket, used, $50.00. No, that’s not a typo. It was my local janitorial supply. Someone had cleaned out a house, found all that stuff, and gave it to him. He didn’t know what he had. This was how I first got into the wfp arena. I’ve since given that pole to a friend of mine.
Anyway, I separated the 2 hoses and went single hose all the way. I recommend a new brush, and brush screws with smaller holes. The standard brush screws come with a 3/8" hole in them I believe. You can order brush screws with a 1/8" hole. The smaller hole reduces flow, increases pressure, and saves you money by using less water. The Tucker part # for the smaller holed brush screws is 108s I believe. If it’s not, then it’s 104s. Your supplier may act like they’ve never heard of the smaller holed brush screws. If so, tell them to check with Tucker.
The only thing I can think of for the soap dispenser is awning cleaning…which I’ve never done, so I can’t say for sure if that’s useful.
One thing I would recomend is to change that brush before you work with it. If you are not carful the screws can scratch the glass without the foam on the brush. When you get a new one skip the foam and go with one that has bristles through out.
I have a 45ft single hose model that I paid $530 for about 3 years ago. John is right the smaller flow screw # is 108s. Get a new brush as the foam block is definitely whats missing. Try a full trim 12" brush or better yet get Shawn at RHG or Chris to set you up w the Tucker adapter so you can run w/ the RHG line of brushes!
One thing you might also want to pick up is the tucker tool. Not sure of it’s exact name and WCR may have it. it’s a tool that looks like a brass fist pack. used for tightening and adjusting the clamps and bolts. Works with pretty much everything that needs adjusting. only a few bucks and speeds things up. You will find out that those hose clamps suck. this tool makes life easy with a tucker.
