My makeshift indoor wfp

I have always been skeptical of the unger indoor wfp system. the concept is pretty simple to understand…

purewater + special pad + long pole

Instead of spending extra money on the commercial indoor wfp sysstems I decided to make my own. Microfiber rags + glass cleaners are my best ways of doing quick interior or exterior touch ups, so my dilemna was to get the rag on a pole and wallllaaaa! indoor wfp system!

total cost less then $25 and since i use microfiber rags I dont have to spend $5 for a unger pad that gives you one time usage before getting dirty. 1 microfiber rag in my system gives me 4 sides of usage.

I used to touch things up this way, but honestly found that the indoor pads work better.

I still use a microfiber on the pad holder to dry and detail everything though. The washing pad works great on both maintained and moderately soiled windows, and I can usually get through a handful of them before needing to change the pad.

does anyone know if the unger indoor pads are any better then a simple microfiber for the purpose of indoor wfp work?

although i am happy with my system, im wondering if the unger pads offer even better cleaning and longer durability in the way of clearing dirt and smudges without leaving streaks and without having to switch to a new pad once it gets a little bit of dirt on it.

I tend to notice that once the microfiber rags get tarnished with just a little bit of dirt it will leave dirty streaks on the glass. I then have to flip it to a clean side to continue cleaning.

****just saw post from squeejieninja, thanks for the respond. I guess i might have to give in and try the unger pads.

Microfiber Cleaning Cloth Here is one to look at. I have bought products from this company. Nice quality.

There are other “weaved” pads that may work your purposes better?

Great idea you had. I am interested to see where it goes.

^ thanks for the suggestion, im always looking at ways to increase efficiency, you never know when youll find it and when you do its life changing, or should i say work changing.

well what da ya know!!!

hey freemind, after visiting that website and seeing all those variety of microfiber, im so interested to call them up and have them suggest to me the best material for my various window cleaning applications.

then the thought came to me, these are some high-quality (hard to find) microfiber cloths and they sell um in bulk by the dozen. so since I may end up ordering a wide variety to test on the job and end up with many extras, why dont I embroider my name on the extras and give them out to my clients. “I have a gift for you…if ever you see a smudge on your glass use this special window cleaning towel to wipe it clean”

kind of like when you buy an iphone and they leave a little microfiber cloth for you to wipe your screen? doesnt that little gesture leave a small but good impression toward that product?

man…im coming up with all kinds of ideas.

where did you buy the blue pad at???

I got the holder and the pad from a janitorial store, i think its originally made for dusting wood floors.
