My scraper Triumph Angled 6inch

The blade bows for some reason so when i scrape the glass there is a huge gap in the middle, my older ettore one did the same thing that’s why i bought this one a few weeks ago. Everybody recommended it. is there a way to fix it? or is that like a curs of bowed blades.

I doubt it’s the scraper. What you are likely experiencing is a bowed surface on the glass you are cleaning. Some windows I clean are bad enough that I have to sometimes use a smaller channel even though the squeegee rubber has a much better ability to conform to the glass surface.
The bow in the window is caused by a change in air pressure between the geographic region where the unit was put together and where it is finally installed.

The blades are flexible to adapt to certain “bows” in the glass. What angle are you holding the blade in relation to the glass? Try adjusting that angle and see what you come up with.

I agree Tony,
And over time as the seal goes I have seen how the 2 panes of glass suck in towards each other and at times even touch. Causing that severe cupping in the surface of the glass. Almost as if it was a large pane of plexi-glass.

i use a triumph2000 (z40) the retractor one, from day one it wasnt easy to retract one-handed . this was bugging me ,till i took it apart and realized if i whittled a tiny bit of plastic off just forward of where your thumb goes (lower section, the tiny locking latch ) it then slides easy .

ive never had the problem of the blade bowing as you describe though

It’s happened to me too.

Check your blades as they were probably sitting around for a year or something and got bowed. Before you put the blade in, bow it in the opposite direction and see if that straightens it.

I found that there is always 1 better side of the blade. Flip that sucker around.

Thank you for all the suggestions, and surly they were all right at one instance or more
but i never tried unbowing it by hand.
I think it also may have to do with temperature, higher the temperature metal wants to expand causing the blade to get out of shape

I like doing it this way
Bade in squeegee !

OMG

Phil - your back again? NICE :slightly_smiling:

Doing new construction years ago, if I got a blank spot in the middle of my scraping path with the triumph, I’d reorient my scraping path by 90 degrees and hit it from the other direction. If that didn’t get whatever was left, we’ll that’s what a 1" scraper is for.

Same here

They did not like me promoting SimPole but now I just talk about the 47 years experience I have in window cleaning . No need to ban me anymore . Check this idea out. WFP Home Cleaning - YouTube
